Make Wirksworth (and Shottle) your destination this weekend

    This weekend, we shall be having a diesel gala at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Details can be found here EVR Event Information and 31414 and 33025 will be sharing duties over the weekend.

    There are a few other good reasons to visit the railway this weekend:

    1. On Sunday, we shall be reopening Shottle station (between Idridgehay and Duffield) for the first time in 65 years.

    2. On Saturday we shall be launching Desination Wirskworth: a marketing campaign to promote, Wirksworth, Duffield and the villages of the Ecclesbourne Valley. This coincides with the Wirksworth Farmers Market midsummer food and drink special event (with three breweries present!) and we will also be launching the *free* Destination Wirksworth Real Ale Guide, covering all Real Ale pubs in walking distance from the Ecclesbourne Valey Railway.

    The Destination Wirksworth website will be launched tomorrow night but in the meantime, if you are on Facebook, you may wish to 'like' us at Destination Wirksworth | Facebook.

    So, classic diesels, real ale and a new station to visit AND you can buy a through ticket from Nottingham, Leicester and Derby!

    What's not to like?!
