It seems Cadbury's Australia have chartered Thirlmere museums main line registered Hunslet 2705 and repainted it and some cars for a new line of Dairy Milk. The Ensemble ran out of Sydney Central yesterday.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'll forgive it if the Loco's owners are getting a tidy sum for the promotion.

This is caused by the glass and a half of full cream milk in every can of paint. (Under 50's may need this explained!)

I preferred the dark red used by Bourneville.

Older contributors may recall the Midland compound painted red and white by the Daily Mirror for a sponsored excursion to Blackpool [I think] sometime in the 1950s. It was scrapped not long after or more likely died of shame! Someone may have more info or a link to a photo.

It says "Dairy Milk" on the tender. If the milk gets fed into the boiler and heated up, then pushed into the cylinders, I'm just wondering what comes out of the chimney?

Or have I missed something ...

The loco was Compound 41101. It's livery was yellow boiler, firebox, tender and wheels, red splashers and cab sides and black smokebox. It worked Manchester to Blackpool on the Daily Mirror Andy Capp Special.

Surely the KWVR could make something of the Yorkie Bar connection - after all they did paint their locos in some odd liveries when they first started. They have a few 'Yorkie' options.

Steam is steam... you get the same steam off boiling milk as boiling water. But...

if you've every boiled over a pan of milk you'll know it would require something quite heroic in the way of anti foam treatment to prevent priming, and I personally would not want to be within 5 miles of the locomotive on boiler washout day...
