No visiting locos have been announced yet.

Chaloner will be returned to its original 1877 "Hooded Locomotive Steam Engine" appearance for the first time in over 120 years, with the addition of a cab.

For a picture of Chaloner with its cab and more info go to great slate quarry fest

I would have thought that these three railways were sufficiently far apart from each other so as not to compete. For me the LBR will take it because it's the closest to Harrow and it doesn't require an overnight stay.

    Regards

As the "thick" person responsible for Marketing at Leighton Buzzard, I do wonder whether this post breaches the rules for this forum.

We do take the responsible approach of not announcing things until we are absolutely certain they will happen, which is why you don't have a list of visiting locos yet. There will be some. We did, however, announce our intention of running an event on these dates, and with this theme, a good 12 months beforehand, in our 2012 leaflet published last September after consultation with other railways.

If others subsequently changed their plans, that is for them to explain, not us. Perhaps "Locomotion" could ask the question, preferably having the courage to use his/her real identity.

Well I'll be at LB that weekend as it's the closest to me by a mile or two and is a terrific setup. A nice little Hunslet would make my weekend!

Do you actually believe that those railways mentioned have not considered the implications of other similar events on the same week end...
It may well surprise you to learn that they have taken it into account and consider that there will be little if any conflict, certainly the Ffestiniog are not likely to have any impact being quite a few miles across the country.

Putting Mods hat on, the phrase "God some people are thick" is totally inappropriate and you should consider amending that remark, These people are no doubt working their socks off to run these events and all they get is to be told they have no business sense.....

I don't agree with the tone of the original post but I do agree with the sentiment. The narrow gauge enthusiast market is fairly small so the geographical distance between these three events probably isn't an issue as the same enthusiasts are likely to travel to all three. I regularly see the same people all over the country at different events. For example, from my home in South Wales they are all about 3 hours away so I'm just as likely to go to one as the other Were they three separate weekends I would have quite likely visited them all..
As it is I'll be at Porthmadog but I would have liked to have gone to the LBR and I have a ticket for statfold but the lure of Blanche and Linda doubleheading up the 1:40 is too much!

I'll be heading to the LBR. It's a 45 minute drive for me against heaven knows how long to North Wales. Add to that the fact the Statfold will be on a Saturday when I'm working and it's a no brainer to attend my local railway.

The visiting locos have been announced as “Edward Sholto”, “Statfold” and “Jack Lane”. Which doesn't leave a lot of locos for the Statfold Open Day, as "GP39" (Bronllwyd) is at the Ffestiniog that weekend. but i'm sure they have something up their sleeve!

Not a lot of loco's for Statfold?

I suppose 11 in steam is not that many, oh and there is a visitor so that makes a nice round dozen

Just as a point of interest it looks like we are going to have our second largest attendance ever on Saturday .

Dont know how our friends at Leighton Buzzard or FR/WHR are doing but it seems people will make the effort when there is something good to see!

Thanks to the Statfold folk for letting us use "Statfold" and "Jack Lane" on one of their busiest weekends, also to the owners of "Edward Sholto" and "Iowerth", plus some working scale models. These will be in addition to the home fleet--"Chaloner" (with cab for the first time since 1888), "Peter Pan", "Elf" and WDLR778. Triple-headers are scheduled for the end of both days.

As a further attraction, Sentinel "Nutty" has just arrived on long-term loan, on public display for the first time in over 20 years. Looks like the weather will be decent for once, as well!
