    Hi all,

I appreciate that this may be something of a long shot, but does anybody out there have or know of the existance of a drawing for the sliding door fitted to LMS vans. Specifically the diagram 2103 12T Plywood van - like this one at the Bluebell?

Bluebell Railway Wagons - LMS 12 Ton Plywood Ventilated Goods Van 524178

I am looking at making a new door, and its always helpful to have a drawing...

Thanks in advance for any info.

    James

    Potential sources are:
    Search Engine at the NRM
    Midland Railway people at Butterley
Historic Model Railway Society (also at Butterley)
I think there's also an LMS Society?

    Hope this helps.

Or, depending which bit of London you're in, a nice day out at Didcot:

LMS Nos 516673 and 517791 (painted nos are ex MOD Bicester). Currently in use by the 2999 group. I know they're a different design (slightly earlier), but the door runner mechanism looks to be the same.

If you give the office a ring (01235 817 200) & ask when the next Saint working party dates are, you *might* be able to have a decent poke about.

I could similarly do with drawings for an LMS D1891 van door but as rebuilt by BR in the mid-50s with vertical instead of horizontal planking.

At present my plan is to measure the remains of the old doors, but a drawing would certainly be nice, so just in case one turns up, please bear me in mind!

Not a 2012 or even a 2013 project, so no rush. Well, unless the old door completely collapses first, which is looking increasingly probable! ;-)
