Day before would seem logical, and keep the fire in overnight.

Ive since found out that following a series of runs at Crewe, she will depart light engine at 10pm for carnforth on the 16th. curiously the run to carnforth is without a support coach.

Any ideas on what the route/timings will be for either of these runs at all? I am working on the arnside viaduct for the next few weeks so would be nice if it was coming my way!

It looks just like 60008... It's lines are that thick also.

They look just a little thicker than the 1/8" that they should be

Just as a general question, does it really matter if the lining is more than 1/8" thick? I doubt whether I (or most of the 'spotter' community) would notice if the lining was thicker ... Am I alone in thinking this?

    James at SVN

I use the word 'spotter' for lack of a better word!

James, to most of us, no it does not matter, but there are some who are always ready to nit pick. :tape:

looking at the full set of times now, there is a wcrc diesal taking stock or support coach to crewe monday morning for the test runs, this loco returns to carnforth in the evening. The A4 then heads to carnforth with coach/es on wednesday morning and returns in the evening

Thing is with the lines, I woulden't of noticed if it wasn't pointed out to me, are they really that bad if 98% of people would fail to clock the difference ?

In a few weeks time we can compare 60009's lining to 60008 and 60010. Regardless what they are supposed to be.. Those were last properly painted by BR in the 60's.

I think its only 60010 that has the same liviery as it did when she left the UK. I think 60008's has been done a couple of times hence why it appears to not look quite right (according to my eyesight anyway as she looks to have a darker paint job).

I hope that 60009 has an early crest applied for next year so we have 6 A4's in 6 different forms as I suggested in the A4 Repatriation thread but she looks great although I wouldn't be able to tell the correct size of the lining and to be honest it doesn't bother me. This is the only UK A4 I've yet to see in a completed form. I think I saw her frames and cab at the SVR back in 1999 but with the 6 A4's I'll be able to see her plus the 2 American ones and tick the full set off :)

Meanwhile...back in the real world, how wonderful to see this iconic machine back after overhaul. Lets hope her return to service is trouble-free and also be grateful to John Cameron for sharing his A4 with countless thousands of enthusiasts and the general public. God bless ya Mr C!
