Crewe overhauls - 60009

Damn I am visiting Green Bay in Aug/Sep........still it will be nice to see them come home for a while...........still have a look at the Big Boy though ......that is awesome.....

 

Fantastic to see her back, a big thank you to JC for the overhaul, lets hope she is in for a period of prolonged trouble free running.

All gone well according to the support staff at Preston. Expected to be on NWCE on Sunday 22nd.

 

Fantastic, we are now back to two operational A4's (60009 and 60019) and one permanent cripple (60007).

Well Mike, I am sure many of us clicked on the link, and hearing the chime whistle again is surely one that we all wanted to hear. Listening to the exhaust, I would not say she was struggling what so ever, the only thing I did hear was one of the cylinder drain cocks probably has some dirt on the seat, thus not allowing it to fully close, I am sure that has since been rectified....

Think its safe to say No 9 is back !

 

Are the Chimes designed to be different or is it just the way they turn out ?, no two seem alike to my ears, even it that was just audio with no picture i'd be able to tell your it's 60009.

 

Chimes have been discussed extensively before if you search for the thread, the distillation was that although they were different they were tuneable, but tuning maywell have been discontinued in the more frugal later years of steam overhauls, giving some loco's quite a distinct sound.
