I suppose it would look like I'm trying to cover myself when I say 'Ireland did occur to me!'

Lovely little loco and wonderful livery.

J72 and Port of Par pair....while you’re at it get Bellerphon
Getting tickets and hotel booking ASAP not to be missed.
The event is not clashing with Tanfield Gala, ideal.
    Looking forward to it

Well it is a Dubs, mighty rare beasts. If you would like to see one closer to home, then perhaps a visit to Foxfield is in order this weekend !.

Trust that we can look forward to the Blaenavon team visiting - we have got rather used to them.

Sorry to trample in your thread, but you know how it is !!.

    Indeed Dave, you are welcome.

J72 not confirmed as yet, its a long way to bring it for a weekend, the number crunchers are doing their sums.

HC1800 would sound fantastic on a good bank! ;-)

(decided to reply here rather than the Foxfield thread...)

    Gala Update:

With the transport costs it has been decided that 69023 Joem will not be visiting us this year, however we do hope to bring her to south Wales in the future if we can secure a longer term agreement.

This leaves still to confirm our Third guest to complement the Par twins Alfred and Judy, 71515 and No. 19, I hope to be able to announce this within the next few weeks.

    Exiting times.
    Al

At the risk of sounding like a broken record... Could it be blue and from Derbyshire?

Well their Facebook page says it's neither blue, nor white, nor from Derbyshire.
It's black, formerly green, and has recently visited a different "railway" in South Wales...

......it's 9466, if their Facebook page is correct, as it should be....

    Gala Update:

We are hoping to officially announce the Star Guest this week.

Friday 14th will see the visiting engines operating our two train peak timetable from 1100 to 1715, prior to the first train we will be holding a short ceremony with local councillors and dignitaries to mark the opening of the new station building at Furnace Sidings.

Saturday and Sunday will feature the three visitors: TBA, Alfred and Judy along with residents 71515 and 19 running an intensive timetable from 0930 to 1715, with two train operation and a short freight train between Furnace Sidings and Whistle Inn running throughout the day.

Our restoration shed will be open with 9629 on display and hopefully new arrival Rosyth taking up residence on the adjacent line.

Site tours will also be arranged at fixed times during the day (staff permitting).

On the Saturday we will are pleased to host ITV Weather Presenter Sian Lloyd as she unveils the carved LNWR crest on the station to officially open the new station building.

Don’t forget to take the opportunity to visit the National Mining Museum of Wales Big Pit as our trains will deliver you to their front door.

    Regards,

    Alex

I can now announce that our third gala visitor is indeed 9466.

The loco will be working 14th - 17th September - Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the passenger service plus Monday it will partake in a spot of Photo Charter Action.

We look forward to welcoming Dennis Howells and his team to the PBR. I am sure that the loco will sound a treat climbing our gradients.

    Regards,

    Alex
