Just back home from Foxfield. Well done for organising the gala, I really enjoyed it . How did they know in advance that the weather was set to improve today ?

Spent the morning at the railway and it looked nicely busy. Everything was running well and even the weather played ball. Thanks to all the photographers that supported the morning charter which provided a very good start to the event. Also thanks to crew for getting up that bit earlier and Sidmouth for helping with the publicity.

If you are looking for something to do tomorrow I would recommend a trip to Staffordshire.

Grateful thanks to the organisers for a happy return to my teenage years driving S&L 62 [aka RSH7673] with 500 ton loads; my images from the morning of the first day can be seen at :

I'd just like to thank the lads and lasses at Foxfield for making me, Andy and 'Ugly' so welcome at this weekend's gala, but especially to Nigel and your fireman (sorry can't remember his name) for the ride on 'Ugly' Saturday afternoon, and Andy and Bob for putting up with me all day on the footplate yesterday.

Visiting and operating over Foxfield is like no other preserved railway I have ever been to and what you guys do with unfitted wagons is not only authentic but extremely professional and safe, but at the same time a lot of fun!!!

I hope you enjoyed 'Ugly' and it's a shame we can't let her stay a bit longer but I think she's coming back down South for a rest! Andy and I were certainly pleased with her performance and we are now very pleased to know what she can actually do. Just please make sure you put the right green saddletank on the lorry!!! ;-)

Must give you guys 11 out of 10 for persistence too! All weekend there was no let up in the persistant requests for 'Topham' to "go home". I sincerely hope that although we won't be letting it go, we can get it overhauled soon so that we can all come up for a visit. (same rules apply regarding it's return!)

Finally, if anyone has found a camera lying around, I misplaced mine on Sunday night in the frenzy to get 'Ugly' ready to come home and a quick pint in before the journey home. If anyone has found it please can you PM me. Alternatively, if the loco dept guys can PM me I have a couple of places it might be.

Once again, thanks for a fantastic weekend. We will be back if you'll have us!

    Matt

Well that is one very successful steam gala out the way with planning now getting under-way for the Autumn which promises to better than last year!

Many thanks to everyone that came and supported the event - we hope you all had as much fun as we did!

On another note though is the people that believe they can free load at these events. Remember if you visit to take pictures and stand in the fields you are trespassing unless you have a valid full day rover.

Would you go to a cinema and do the same? I know I'm preaching to the converted here but if we do find anyone not paying and refusing to pay we will stand in front of your camera as proven on Sunday afternoon!

I hope this person has some nice brown hair shots...

We look forward to seeing you all again soon and thanks again for helping to make a great event fantastic!

    Richard

Most enjoyable day yesterday with lots of nice sights and sounds on the bank. Bumped into some friends I hadn't seen in quite a while so that was a nice bonus. Had a chuckle when the young gent at Dilhorne thought I qualified for an OAP ticket. Didn't think I looked that old. :) Sadly one or two individuals parked outside and accessed the field via the gate just along from the main entrance at Dilhorne. Tightwads!

Great day on Sunday with the sun shining. Thanks again if he reads this to the guy at the foot crossing who marshalled everyone out of the way so that those of us at the top of the field could get the whole 18 wagon train in our shots. And of course thanks to all those who gave their time to make this event happen.

Just checking, yours was the green one with 6 wheels built in Leeds ?. Did I ever mention Topham ?.

Thank you both for visiting, No 62 made the event very special. There is no doubt that we have formula for the summer gala right.

Nice to see the photos and videos of the event, many of the Foxfield members dont get to see the event 'till Monday. Hard work but worth it.

A great set of photos there Paul! Although you did catch a photo of me on the Dubs crane tank looking rather interesting!

    Best Wishes

Indeed, some very nice people shots.

I think a caption competition is in order, Richard I think is quite overcome having achieved his long held dream of a day with dubs. He is perhaps thinking I must look cool but I am so happy I could burst. He may also be thinking that its time for a cup of tea, a critical task.
