    The comma is slightly misleading perhaps in my LMS friend's comment.

    We have a temporary solution for steam heating on the front of 6024 which can be fitted when on heritage railways.
    It's not fitted when on the mainline (as in that picture).

    Perhaps this is something that could be looked at for Nunney if it is to have a notable level of use at the SVR.

    I have heard of some engines taking steam from the lance cock for doing this sort of thing, I don't know if 6024's soloution is this though.

    Regardless of steam heating, having 5029 on the SVR would be a fantastic. Even it were to be used on a very limited basis inbetween mainline turns it would certainly be a good attraction.

    It can't be the hardest mod in the world to fit steam heating to the front ?, can always take the pipe connection off in summer to maintain the asthetics.

    None of the Std 9Fs had steam heating in BR days. 92134, 92203, 92212, 92214, 92220 and 92240 have all had the reducing valve and all the pipework fitted in preservation.
