I've received a text tonight saying 61994 should work next week's Fellsman as well. Fingers crossed!

This is great because their were quite a few people here on the board who wanted to see the K4 doing some work out of Carnforth. Word must have gotten out.

I'll wait for confirmation, just in case there is a change of mind, and if all goes according to plan a day off is called for. From viewing the footage that is up, the K4 appears to have done quite well yesterday, so after what could be seen as a satisfactory crew familiarisation trip, the 8th might be even more interesting.

    Must try to wait patiently.

Wise for the crews to get used to the K4. She has a habit of biting those who are unfamiliar. I gather from a loco crew that keeping her steaming well is an art but once mastered she will pull almost anything.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the K4s speed limit?

OK thanks I was just wondering if she might have been run on the Moorlander, but not with the 50 limit...

Not so sure about this one. It used to be 50mph. However it was increased to 60 mph a couple of years ago, there or there abouts. There are some cab shots on YouTube (see The Great Marquess at Crianlarich posted by scottm16 on 05-09-10 at 9mins and 2 seconds and there it is - 60mph) showing the change, but it would be helpful if one of the support crew or someone with access to Carnforth could confirm the present state of affairs.

So RalphW the Moorlander would be another option providing the change remains in force. Taking 12 up to Shap shouldn't present much of a problem

(I'm sure I have posted about this before, possibly more than once)

Yep. I was only going off the figures on UK Steam, so these may be out of date. It certainly seemed to be doing over 50 on Wednesdays run.

Yes, the Marquess was upgraded to 60 mph running about 2 years ago, maybe slightly longer. Since then I have had several runs in the sixties behind it.

According to UK Steam, the K4 is doing the honours again tomorrow. Hopefully some better weather too.
