Some cine film showing the 'escapades' of a group of Surrey based enthusiasts in the late 1960s has recently come to light. One section of the film shows an Orenstein and Koppel locomotive, owned by John Butler, in steam at Ripley, Surrey. Whilst John Butler's other steam locomotive (Covertcoat) is obviously well accounted for, I haven't been able to find a record yet of where the O&K went - so does anyone know where she now is?

Hi Charlie just looked on uk locos database UKLocos - Preserved, Private, Hired & Industrial UK Locos site and it only shows up 18 O&K's still in the country, I would have thought it would have been more of them, than that. But it does not have the new ones in the Midlands on it just yet.

It wasn't PC Allen by any chance at the time??? as I think that one has been in the UK for some time.

From memory, it's the one that later went to Cadeby and is now at Golden Valley.

Correct. O&K7529. John Butler had it delivered by rail - is that what the film shows? It was steamed on a handful of occasions at Cadeby - most notably at Teddy Boston's wedding - and then the boiler inspector had a close look at the roof stays......

Thanks both. The film does show delivery.
