    How is the project to build a diesel shed at Kidderminster coming on? How many locomotives will the shed store?

    You can see the entrance to the carriage shed on the plans - it is on the extreme left with 4 roads running into it. The new diesel shed is further to the north (closer to the turntable/station).

    The site between the carriage shed and the turntable is earmarked for the diesel shed, and some years ago soil testing was carried out to see whether "contaminated ground" came into the equation--mercifully it did not. I doubt if the shed shown in the plans will actually be the one built. Whilst having the tall roof to accommodate a crane gantry for lifting would be good, I suspect cost has now come into play and maybe a more modest structure will result.
    Given how useful the diesel fleet is proving to be on the SVR, I just hope they dont have to stand outside for too many more winters. Even just having an undercover pit will be a step foreward. This project has been "work in progress" for quite a long time now.
