Does anyone know what became of this? I was recently chatting to someone who tells me he was the last railwayman at Longmoor and was responsible for clearing the site. He believes that the O gauge training railway went first to Germany and then to Beverley Transport Museum, but does not know what becam,e of it when Beverley closed - can anyone shed any light? It was a fully signalled (with fully working locking in miniature) model of the entire Longmoor system and was quite something to behold.

I know that at least one of the Bassett-Lowke locomotives (in full lined LMR livery!) ended up in the possession of a current member of the Bassett Lowke Society, suggesting that it was broken up/sold off :( Apparently the locos were special order with reduced gearing to allow them to run much slower than normal, perhaps to allow the trainee signalmen to keep up!

I did ask when we went to Beverley in 2005 to look at the rolling stock collection and was advised that what was left had gone to the Royal Engineers Museum at Chatham. How much and what, I have no idea sadly.

Looking around google I found this regarding the model railway. I also found another web site that is saying the model railway is STILL COMPLETE and is in an army museum but is not usable and needs some work doing to it. Maybe some one from the NRM could investigate and possible save this model railway?

    As an aside to this.
At Beverley there was the "Track Wrecking wagon" with the big ripper hook.
Any idea where this is now?
