It's strange how this one was cancelled at the very last minute, no reasoning on UKS, and all trace of the tour has simply disappeared from TBEL's site, unless you still have the link. I'm sure I'm reading more in to it than there actually is.

The tour today was 'Cancelled due to industrial action at DBS'.

So are ASLEF going to compensate all the lost revenue incurred due to the cancellations caused by their action? And pigs might fly!

I'm not disputing this but I note that the Railway Herald website states that it was cancelled due to 'no available steam locomotive'.

Think this may be a combination of 2 factors involving the ASLEF rest day working ban and also the latest problems encountered by 71000. Sadly 71000 does not seem able to shake off the problems at this time. Sad as i think she has the potential to be a superb loco but there are those niggling problems

Just to add to my last post can't obviously find any updates as to the latest problems on various sites relating to 71000 Dick

Please can someone advise - is tomorrow's tour still on? Another thread suggested that it had been cancelled due to the ASLEF/DBS dispute, but this isn't meant to start until the weekend. The normally reliable uksteam website and the Torbay express Ltd website both indicate it still to be running.

    Thanks

Just replied in similar vein on LE movement thread. Nothing heard locally on gen groups to suggest that this has been cancelled and still shown on Uk steam and TBEL and Bath Travel sites (mind you Bath travel not updated recently) so have to assume that all systems go and looking forward to seeing 70000 soon after 0630 in morning on ECS

In addition to the strike, the union has put in force a ban on overtime working, where previously crews could volunteer to work on their days off.

The schedules for this working were live on TRUST today.
Whether that means the tour will run or Network Rail haven't yet cancelled them , I don't know.

John - I will try to get an update on by soon after 0700 in morning one way or the other about the ECS, but likely not to be in a position to update once the trip leaves for Bath until a lot later in morning Dick

I heard from mate whose friend's dad is on the support crew, and they were told the tour had been cancelled. I admit it does seem odd there has been no other mention, official or unofficial, as to whether the tour is going ahead or not.

70000 down top of Parkstone Bank at 0640 with 11 on - sounding and looking very nice as the sun rose over Branksome - promising start! Dick

Oh no! I'm at home having become convinced that it wasn't running. Perfect conditions too. What a pain. Thanks nonetheless everyone, even if the messages have been somewhat confusing.
