It'll clean up nicely will that. When it's had a bit of TLC it'll look fabulous. Thank you SG for posting the video.

Amazing set of photos showing Moveright's operation to extract 60010 from the museum:

Dwight D Eisenhower move - a set on Flickr

Looks like the loco needs a fair bit of muscle to get it moving, after so many years standing in the same place.

    I particularly like this shot:
Is your "Big Boy" short on power? Trying adding an A4-booster!

Look out for the "Monster Moves" TV programme.

    I believe 60008 has 1936 non-corridor tender #5671.

60010 clearly has a corridor tender which I assume is 1928 type #5326 with which it was withdrawn.

Info from 'A Tangle of Tenders' by Mel Haigh on the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Preservation Trust website.

Don't think thy have left yet as there has been no reports of Dominion of Canada making her journey yet, the wagon that brought Dwight D. to the port is going back from Dominion (they have only checked one wagon can take the weight) once she is on her way there is bound to be reports coming through.

Should be en-route to Halifax by now. Latest rumour i have heard was a Sept 9th sailing from Halifax, but i have no confirmation of that.

Does anyone else think that bringing the 2 A4's back is a waste of money bearing mind they will only be here for 2 years and that the money would have been better spent on returning Mallard to steam that we could enjoy for 10 years?

I reckon those Turkish 8fs got that award...

Many people followed A4's and these ones were last around in the 1960's... So have been copped, just not for a while, The 8f's were last around in the 1940's.. And there were many of them.

But for number of visitors... I reckon the A4's will win. :)

After seeing the figures for railfest £700,000 to stage it and then made a loss of £200,000 what was all that money spent on , I think the money would be better spent on projects in Britain rather than bringing these over for 2 years.

Does anyone actually KNOW how much this is costing? I thought a large portion of the travel expenses were either sponsored or free?
