The lack of an '!' or emoticon made it appear as a serious statement though.

    From NNR Website

Some important information has been released about the arrival of new build locomotive 60163 Tornado onto the North Norfolk Railway.

The operational programme for 60163 Tornado, coming to the North Norfolk Railway for the Grand Steam Gala (Aug 31 - Sept 2), means that it is now scheduled to come over the Sheringham level crossing on Bank Holiday Monday at 03:50. It will be accompanied by two diesel engines, but NNR staff and Tornado's crew will be working to make the crossing as quiet as possible. This is the only window of opportunity for getting Tornado on to the line for the Gala. The railway would like to apologise in advance if any residents have their sleep disturbed.

    Excellent!

I have my fingers crossed for some good combinations - J15, B12 and A1 on the Quad arts all at once, pretty pleaseeee! (or failing that, any combinations thereof will suffice :) )

Timetables go up a week before the event, but will they have locos allocated to them or do these have to be bought on the day? It's my first NNR gala, so not sure how things are done

They are allocated when you get the timetable for the day at the NNR but all depends on what they want to say on the website!

In previous gala's (I'm sure the same will apply here) you will be available to purchase a 'programme' of the gala which includes a WTT in it. With regard to the J15, B12
and A1 on the quads at once (1) This is impossible (?) to my knowledge as NNR aren't authorised to run triple headers, and (2) Don't you think that would be somewhat overkill, and would look asthetically wrong ? :)

    1) Pardon me for not knowing the NNR's limitations, I am not local to it.
    2) Isn't any multiple working on such a short line on 3 - 6 coach trains, overkill? To me at least, multiple workings make things interesting and varied. But as for aesthetics, the roster has 3 LNER locos, 2 LMS, a BR and a GWR, in a timewarp of different liveries, liveried rolling stock which would never have met 'back in the day', on a branch line in the 21st century. It's a gala - i think aesthetics went to the pub for a pint :)

Back to what i said, any combination thereof will suffice :)

And thanks for the program info, now i know what to do when i arrive

I believe Bellerophon, Ring Haw and one of the austerities was done in the 90s, but maybe things have changed since?

When I said about it being overkill, all I meant was by the time you've got the three locos and tenders at the front its going to be nearly as long as the stock as the quads are only 4 vehicles!

You're correct, they did used to run triple headers but look at the size of the engines you mentioned to the size of the engines now.

Having had a peek at the WTT I think irwellsteam will be very pleased :) Just don't hold you breath for a tripleheader!

I understand, I've seen triple headed class 50s with double headed class 20s on the back, and that was nearly as long as the 6 coach train they were working. But it's OK, i wasn't expecting a triple header to be in there, the pretty please and smiley was meant to denote i wasn't being completely serious. I'm sure the gala will be good regardless

Just wondered, why is one of the Black 5s being renumbered as 45156 'Ayrshire Yeomanry'? Does 45156 have some connection to the M&GN or East Anglia?
