A merchant navy does it for me,
or a castle come to that but there are not enough Kleenex in the world to deal with the consequences,
either way, a MN for an A4,
I know where i can get a MN.

    just off to the bank.

With the recent sale of 6619 for 250k (pls correct me if I'm wrong)
Does this now set a bench mark for future prices or is it low/ high by today's standard ?

Isn't the asking price for 3803 something similar? Makes the (rumoured) £400k the Paiignton & Dartmouth want for out of ticket 4588 look a bit silly.

Ah, but they aren't preservationists per se, but rather a business. I suspect their view on things is a little different. (runs to hide from flying fishplates and share certificates.....)

What an excellent idea. As soon as the cheque clears we'll pop it on the next container ship from Southampton.

Agreed but business or not, it's only worth what someone will pay for it and £400k would appear to be well above the going rate

They may be a business, but they'll probably end up having to sell it to preservationists - there isn't a very big market otherwise, although the Epping-Ongarperhaps have ambitions to be a similar operation - time will tell if the same business model will work for them.

Shame that a very useful engine finds itself in limbo because of an unrealistic price tag. I wonder how much Tyseley are asking for 7760, which is also complete but in need of an overhaul.

I'm surprised that no buyer has yet come forward for 47298.

I believe that the deal being offered by Tyseley for 7760 is for the loco and overhaul and is quite reasonable. I cannot recall the figure, however. No Doubt, Mr Meanley can inform us of the price being asked.

All this talk of sending CanPac to Canada - if I win the Euromillions and fund the overhaul, do you think the MHR would let me borrow her for a year and take her across Canada and over the Rockies? :D
