This event is on next weekend and the timetable and loco roster are now on the website Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway : Annual Steam Gala

Sunday looks interesting with Joan on the goods and 1&2 double heading throughout the day along with the resita on passenger trains all weekend. Not sure what Dougal is doing on Sunday, station pilot perhaps?

Should be a good event as usual and hopefully well patronised.

Not to be missed by anyone who loves the light railway atmosphere.

    Morning all,

Just wondered if there are any / many planning to drop by over the weekend at all?

I may see you there if you are about.

    All the very best,

    Richard.

Good day today, had a very noisy trip behind the resita to Welshpool followed by a doubleheaded return with the Earl and Joan, with Joan doing most of the work. The trains seemed busy during the day and everything ran on time.

I also had an excellent day riding trains on the saturday and was on the same Earl/Joan doubleheader.
Joan was indeed doing most of the work, which according to Joan's crew was definately not the plan but as the Earl was quickly down to less than 100psi after leaving Welshpool, was more of an act of necessity!
(As Joan was having to push the Earl and pull the train, this was also the reason given for the hunting motion through the train which was playing havoc with our recently consumed fish and chip supper !)

The work they have done on the Resita seems to have paid dividends.
Not only did it look very smart but it seemed much more controllable and with a lot of power on tap.
(In the past I've seen occasions when it took both of the crew tugging on the regulator to get it into second valve!)
Certainly on the trips I did with it on saturday we went up Golfa Bank as if it wasn't there.

So congratulations all round to the Welshpool team for an excellent weekend. Hopefully it was financially successful for them.

Nice photos. I enjoyed the crossings of trains at Castle Caereinion most of all - this railway catches the light railway atmosphere so well.
