Now then, I was in Wakefield today getting the car serviced and I had a walk up to Kirkgate Sta. to see the SSE, fine, a few minutes late so no problem. Then I was walking back to the garage and about 35 minutes after the SSE was away, something else came steaming through on the line from Kirkgate towards Healy Mills. I couldn't see it, I heard it, has anybody any idea what it might have been? 12:45 through Kirkgate.

Ran about 5 mins early up until Eastleigh when a signal check halted progress. Arrived at the TRSMD about 10 late.

It was 67022 leading 70000 +POB. I saw the pair at Winchester and Eastleigh.

I understand this move may have been in vain, as it appears the DBS/Aslef dispute has claimed another victim and Wednesday's Poole - Bristol is apparently cancelled. Yet another TEx Ltd tour that has failed to run due to forces beyond their control.

Oh no! not again. These TBEL Poole trains have had such a bad time this year, so I hope this story isn't true. A link from another thread about this action says that the strike date isn't until the weekend, so perhaps it may yet run. Regardless, ASLEF ought to make an exception for steam tours - after all, such action won't exactly do much for their popularity in an age where trades unions are despised by many.

Do you honestly think that ASLEF care a damn about passengers on any service, or their popularity, all they care about is getting an inflation busting pay rise for their members regardless of the consequences.

Absolutely - however, the rank and file union members do have more of a conscience.

Move to York from Crewe, there are times available but I can't get them on here because I'm on holiday using my iPod. I'll try and put them on tomorrow when I get home.

I wonder what it's going to York for? Not sure there are tours it is booked for. Something to do with the Ouse Bridge maybes?

Does anyone have any more news on the cancellation (or not) of tomorrow's Bath Spa Exoress?? No updates on uksteam or the TBEL website (athough the latter does menton that this Sunday's Torbay Express has fallen victim to the dispute - could this be where the confusion has arisen?) I was hoping to go and see 70000 in action, and am none too keen to get up at 4.45AM to travel over to Hampshire/Dorset if it isn't running.
    Thanks.

As far as I am aware the Bath Spa trip is still on - nothing locally on local gen groups or elsewhere to suggest it has been cancelled. 70000 is at Eastleigh and all being well I am looking forward to seeing her with the ECS soon after 0630 in morning - please!

As they're using her on our tour on Saturday I hope her test run goes fine.

One day, just maybe our wishes will come true, although the pessimist in me reckons that FS will be ready before Galatea.
