Steve, I think it's air, as the test runs to date have had a DL attached to provide air - but that could be other reasons eg reverser or similar of course. Iain

I see the CVR website says that the S160 is 'Running in tests' - would be nice to see her running, even on a test run. Are there any good rumours on when the tests are schedules for?

I see there's now a bit of history about the two S160s on the website, also says 5197's overhaul due to start later this year. Happy times for S160s

Big Jim can't be that far off either now so that'll make 2 S160s with 5197 hopefully making an appearance at some point soon :)

How long before someone cooks up an "S160 fest" gala?!? How many would be required fore such an event, 4?

Two or three would be more than enough, throw in the austerity from the KWVR and a couple of USA tanks and you'd have an awesome (loud) event!

You've forgotten the Austerity saddle tanks (aka J94's).

Do others agree, a more rounded selection of general Austerity types would have more appeal?

Just wondering if this has ever been done before, perhaps a sort of "ugly duckling" gala - as I'm sure advocates of these types won't mind admitting that style wasn't the priority for locos designed during this period. There seems to be no doubts about their ability to make noise however!

Due no doubt to the 'every expense spared' nature of their draughting arrangements !!

Not sure if it's been posted yet but SR 'U' Class 31806 from the Mid Hants has been confirmed in Steam Railway as the first guest at the steam gala next February (23/24), and sticking around for one more weekend after that.

Still to turn a wheel in anger CVR! Work was progressing on setting the Safety Valves at the weekend going off the e-mail I've seen this morning.

NYMR website reports that 69621 is going instead of the S160.
