    Hi all,

Thought I'd get the word about this event out.

I've very please to announce that Port of Par Bagnalls, Alfred and Judy, from the Bodmin and Wenford Railway will be visiting over the weekend.

I can now confirm that locomotives running will be:

    Standard Gauge
Port of Par Bagnall - Alfred
Port of Par Bagnall - Judy
    Class M5 Peckett - 1163 "Whitehead"
    BR Standard Class 5MT - 73129
Ex LMS Princess Coronation Class - 46233 "Duchess of Sutherland"

    Narrow Gauge
    Inverted Saddle Tank - "Joan"

Attractions over the weekend should include

Intensive timetable with main line departures every 45 minutes.
First steam hauled services along our Swanwick Colliery branch line
Steam services on the Golden Valley Light Railway.
Out of service Steam Locomotives on display outside
All Day Breakfasts available (on select trains)

More details are available on the web site, here.

Yes, that is a problem, however I've updated the original post to include the now confirmed visit of Alfred and Judy from the Bodmin and Wenford Railway!

Really looking forward to this and it'll certainly be interesting seeing steam services up the Swanwick Branch. I was happy to see that I'm rostered on Judy on the Sunday :)

Intending for there to be regular shuttle trips from Butterley - Swanwick - Greenhill - Swanwick - Butterley.

Intention would be to run with one engine from Butterley to Swanwick Junction, top and tail up the branch and back. One engine from Swanwick to Butterley, swap engines at Butterley then return to Swanwick Junction. Repeat pattern...

    Looking like a good gala.

I'll be on the gate at Swanwick to catch people trying to get in the cheap way!

Fare's for the GVLR will be as follows:

Adult £2 (return trip) All day rover £4
Child £1 (return trip) All day rover £2

    See you there.

Phil - Doubt we'll be running anything on the Saturday evening, but I'd like sort some kind of photographic evening at Swanwick, being as it'll get dark early. Watch this space!

George - Will ask about HRA passes. I doubt I'll be able to do them for free, but might be able to sort half price. Let me check!

The GVLR are hoping to have their usual high quality book stall open in the narrow gauge station building. Its got everything such as postcards, railwayana, overhaul manuals to rare out of print books.

I'll be able to confirm its attendance by the end of this coming week.

    cheers

46233 will be top and tailed all day (as it is unable to run round). On the down runs, it'll be the rear locomotive, however on the up runs it will be the leading locomotive.

On the timetable it states that locomotives in italics will be on the rear of the trains. Hope this helps!

I'm pleased to say that Alfred and Judy "touched down" with us this morning.

    Both locomotives at Swanwick Junction.

Also, some shunting was done for the event today, including draging some steam engines out of the museum for display outside. This includes Gladys, the sole surviving locomotive built by Markham and Co, in Chesterfield.
