I'll make a more formal announcement separately later but the good news is we could reunite 8,9 and 10 for the iconic (can I call it that ) BR Green A4 line up

HerItage RaIlway are now also saying that.... Re-streamlined LMS Princess Coronation Pacific No. 6229 Duchess of Hamilton is to run over the main line in the next few weeks – so it can visit the newly-repatriated A4s at the Locomotion Museum in Shildon. To be moved from York by class 55 hopefully by the end of this month.....

That article seems wrong though. 6229 could very well be going to Shildon but the following quote isn't correct ''It will be the first heritage era meeting of the two streamlined types which epitomised the zenith of the steam age in the Thirties''. But 4468 and 6229 have been displayed side by side at the NRM before and I think after Railfest.

Might be the last time it could happen as D of C will be back in Blue next year. She will also be the one with the only "authentic" BR applied livery, albeit the scruffiest one. OT, how many other mainline preserved locomotives still carry an original, BR applied, paint job? "City of Birmingham" I know of, but are there others?
    Cheers,
    Owd Sweedy,

DOMINION OF CANADA indeed departed Liverpool Freeport at 4am today and should get to Shildon around lunchtime. If you're quick you can catch it going over Stainmore summit around 9am. Pictures are now at Heritage Railway Magazine | Facebook

60010 legally entered the UK at 05:50 this morning and by 06:10 was on the M58 Motorway heading to Shildon via M58 / M6 / A66 / Scotch Corner / A1(M). Both locomotives are expected to be on public display from tomorrow.

Could this be another first....a brunswick green A4 and a brunswick green 'Duchess' going over Shap Fell on the same day?

Pity that 60010 was reported in the Penrith are around 09:00 - it would have been a classic of both passing Scout Green at the same time.

The two repatriated LNER A4s are now lined up together in the sun outside the Locomotion museum at Shildon. For latest pictures visit facebook.com/heritagerailway

Seems very steep really - why not make it cheaper and allow more people to come - surely more money would be raised or am I missing something here?

Because to move No.9 is not cheap even allowing for the tremendous goodwill of all involved . I need to be able to commit on Monday to make this happen . I've run photo charters on this basis for 15 years now all for the benefit of railway preservation and railway enthusiasts, as have a number of other NP members .

Yes I suppose the short notice means it can't be widely advertised. Hopefully there will be enough people who are willing to pay to make this happen and good luck to you Martin.
