Have booked my ticket for the 11th - very excited about this opportunity as it promises to be one of the preservation events of the year. When was the last time people had the opportunity to travel in a wooden-bodied steam railmotor on the national network? A mind blowing achievement

1948 by my reckoning, when the last of the LYR railmotors were withdrawn. That is excluding railmotors rebuilt into conventional carriages.

Mine has arrived as well. One interesting observation though is that one of the conditions of running this train imposed by Netweork Rail was that all passengrs had to have an individual numbered seat. My ticket has the correct train time but no seat number.

Part of the reason why I didnt bother with this was because I felt a decent seat might be a tall order. Itl probably be a scrum with a fair few "unwashed and overweight"...

Hang on a minute, Railmotor, decent seat, how many does it have and what difference does it make if you seat in allocated, you might still get an aisle seat next to someone who is "unwashed and overweight". And what a arrogant term that is.

I'd rather sit next to someone unwashed and overweight than someone as stuck up as you.

You'd be just as likely to sit next to a human being not up to your high standards on any other train. Despite my strained student existence I have bought a ticket for this trip and am looking forward to it greatly. I hope to make polite conversation with whoever I am sat with regardless of their personal hygiene or diet.

Ruffled feathers this Sunday morning, oh well.

The interior layout of the railmotor is well known for a design from a time when the population on the whole were smaller. As a slimmer person I do find that when a larger person sits along side they do tend to 'spill over' and invade my space.

I will always be polite when sat next to somebody - but I will not hide my generalised views when giving an opinion and reason for - on reflection - not booking.

If you wish to call me a stuck up **** for that then go ahead. I would not make personal insults to you for that.

It's a;so a design from a time when someone like you would have been called a prig. Quite fitting I'd say.
