Spotted what appeared to be a narrow gauge steam loco on the back of a low loader in Tamworth tonight at around 10pm.

Appeared to be an 0-6-0 or similar, red in colour, and partially dismantled.

Any ideas? Something headed for Statfold?

Off the top of my head it maybe 1918 Hanomag Feldbahn 0-8-0 No.8310 from the Durley Light Railway heading for Statfold.

    Could be wrong tho.

Nah don't think it was the Feldbahn, only saw that on Saturday and didn't look like that. Plus the 3 locos from Durley were being collected on Tuesday

Could it have been the 2ft gauge Australian 0-6-0st that came in earlier this year?

So the cat is out of the bag the loco being delivered to Statfold was the ex Fijian Hudswell Clark 0-6-0 tender loco that has been swopped for the Durley Feldbarn. It is is very poor condition having had a diesal engine put in it at one time. So those who critisised Mr lee for having a monoply on resent purchases has swapped a good working loco that needs very little work to get it running for a complete basket case which will take alot of time and money to sort out.

"Lautoka Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 ex Coral Coast Railway (HC 972) – exported to UK. This was the loco in store at Lautoka in 1976 and in use in 2006."

Picture part way down this page:-

    Vanishing Fijian Steam Locomotives...

It appears to be quite a substantial and impressive locomotive. I guess in the 2006 picture it was being powered by a hidden diesel engine (as stated by "Locomotion") and I dare to guess that the mushroom growing out of mud-hole door oriface the side of the boiler is the air intake.

More pictures of the Hudswell Clark on the Coral Coast Railway here:

Well done to all at the SBR.

    Best wishes,
    Gareth

Well done Henry, I'd understand if you guys don't have the time, But I would like to have some more information about this loco when you do strip it down for restoration such as just how good or bad it is, its the sort of project that excites me, good luck with it guys.

    Regards

Great news...after a fantastic trip this year to visit the SBR I will very much be hoping to repeat my trip again next year.

I assume that this new locomotive will be quite a way down the overhaul list...behind Sybil Mary, the 0-4-0 Hudswell Clarke and QOTS/Michael/Liassic?

    Regards,

    Ben

Never say never or assume anything when it comes to Graham Lee, as you just cannot tell, like me you have to wait for Henry to say what is happening. But my guess is you wont see it as a complete loco next open day as it may well be a kit of part ready to go back together.

I make that 5 locos ahead in the queue. One for each of the three open days next year?

You will be pleased to hear that it has moved into the workshop already and is being stripped down, as I write!

    .

Rumour has it that it stayed in the hampshire area. If the UK loco list has been updated recently it may be on there
