Can anyone advise if there is heating in the Railmotor or do we need to take thermals just in case.

If it doesn't have true under-seat heating installed, the presence of a boiler and fire should keep things reasonable!

It does have steam heat that seems to be quite good when checked the other week.

Do you feel the heat from the boiler/firebox with it and the passenger accomodation being in the same vehicle ?.

I would say not a great deal as the boiler is insulated and there are walls between you and the boiler, but then I don't often travel in the coach and when driving from the other end you are 60ft away with 5 walls in between.

    4/11: t1104a.htm

11/11: t1111a.htm (I think they are the same)

Note the ECS move back to Bodmin in the evenings (It also runs up from Bodmin to Liskeard on the day before)

Surely these are diesel hauled - the railmotor won't be running under its own steam?

Indeed it is diesel hauled, a Class 37 IIRC

BBC weather site currently suggests thundery shower conditions for this weekend in Cornwall. Anyone else on the very first departure from Liskeard?

Following on from what Campainr was saying, the weather hasn't improved at all - if anything, it is getting worse! Fingers crossed it gets better in time.

Time to get out the umbrella once again. Although not a metal one - or else you may be struck by lightning!

By heck that's a lot of LE mileage to move one vehicle not very far! Presumably there no cheaper alternative - e.g. loco off the china clay trains or similar?

Well it needs to be a West Coast loco - and Southall is the nearest place!

as this is a WCR operation I assume it has to be a WCR diesel which would'nt be the case with locos on china clay trains

This is one of my pet hates about railway privatisation/sectorisation. In the bad old days of single entity railway operations, it would have been the nearest available loco to hand doing this move.

Indeed. Though I did wonder if the loco needed to be vacuum braked too.
