Our Autumn Open Day is rapidly approaching - Sunday 28th October.

Tyseley Locomotive Works - Base for Vintage Trains

Steam shuttle rides, turntable demonstrations, railwayana stands, refreshments, All-Day breakfasts, etc.

Gates open at 10:00am. Entrance fee is 10pounds per Adult - acompanied children (under 15) are free.

Would anybody from Tyseley know if the Peckett will be used on the shuttles

The Peckett isn't vac braked, so it cannot pull passenger trains.

It will be trundling around with the Toad.....

 

A thought Ben - why not leave a Pannier between the Peckett and stock to provide the brake ?

 

Firstly let me say that I can't attend this weekend, but I say it for the benefit of future open days...

I have no interest in attending a Tyseley open day to ride behind engines that I can travel behind on the main line. I have little interest in seeing engines in steam that I cannot travel behind. BUT, if the Peckett was giving passenger rides, be it cab rides, brake van rides or topping a vac brake engine on coaches then I would be there like a shot.

 

Any diesels on passenger shuttles please such as 08021?

 

I too would certainly be more likely to attend a future event if the Peckett were to be on offer!

EDIT: And the 08 would be a nice bonus, too!

If you don't want to attend, then DON'T!

Some people do like to see the engines they travel behind up close and personal....they enjoy standing on the footplate, chatting to the drivers and staff, etc.

As for the Peckett on passenger shuttles.....the Peckett isn't Vac (or air) braked, so it cannot be on a passenger train. i don't care what other places may or may not do, we will not have a engine that isn't in control of the train as the lead. End of.
