Doing a search for 'steam engine' seems to come up with American locos first, so goodness knows how they came up with the traction engine. I guess its coz it dont have any of them stickey, twiddly things on the wheels... you know!

Well, at least said damsel in distress would have had a bit more time in which to be untied, as the "train" roared towards her at all of 5mph...

Typical fuddery from the modern ignorant masses. Most viewers wouldn't even be aware of the mistake.

    Richard.

    5mph?

I suppose it's not clear if it has belly tanks or not, so it could be a lumbering slow agricultural, but a steam tractor could easily be doing twice that speed - or Foster "Ikanhopit" five times that speed. However, if it hasn't got belly tanks then somone's painted their throatplate green and lined it out, which would be unusual.

If you want to get picky then how it moves at all is interesting - seeing as there's no apparent drive from the crank to the back axle on either side, the only possible location for the drive train would be between the hornplates, which would be unusual. Is it a compound engine with overhead slide valves, or a piston valve single? In either case the centre line of the two bores are at different heights, which looks a little odd. I suppose we can allow the apparent lack of a steering scroll, chains or shaft up to a steering wheel on the basis that it's supposed to be a railway loco, even if it does have non-railway wheels which are straddling the track! lol

Ok, shall we just accept it's a poor computer generated representation of a "steam engine" and concentrate on the dancing rather than the limited budget set design, afterall, I don't know about 1920's era road signs but their "level crossing without barriers" warning sign in the background uses a different non-standard locomotive symbol to the current highway code as well.

If I were conducting a murder with railway equipment, 'Blue Anchor' would not be my first choice of locomotive. Now one of those rotary snowploughs...

I think I would rather feed my hand into a blender whilst headbutting a wasps nest than watch any of the 'reality' or 'Celebrity jungle/dance/challenge/other pointless task' type shows.

That aside, the picture is crap.

  9. Oh my word. Just listen to yourselves!

I have never understood the mentality that, just because someone doesn't happen to like something, they feel the need to slag it off. I'm sure all of you making these disparaging comments would immediately be up in arms if you were slated as "Nerdy train spotters" by anyone.

Get off your high horses and live and let live, for goodness sake. People in glass houses, etc...:rolleyes1:
