I see from Railway Herald that Rebuilt WC Braunton will replace Oliver Cromwell on the Peak Forester railtour in March - should still fit the 60ft turntable?

The Brit seems to be 42cm longer than the WC and the former just fitted.

Will it get any use? I was under the impression that Riverside station had been bypassed since the running line was extended into Matlock main line station.

The award for dedication should be given to the individual working on the S and T at Matlock in freezing temperatures and a blizzard this morning

With more snow falling. John and myself carried on with rodding work yesterday and now a third of the point work is connected and working from the riverside frame

Wee taken Agee more bits back to get sets out in them or bends here and there and drilled a few items and moved a few fouling things here and there.

Work will continue next weekend with hopefully no snow :)

Well no snow! and what must count as a bit of a heatwave for this time of year in the hills, John Pete and myself carried on today and now eight rodding run works too, Johns been looking also at a disconnected track lead fault and weve taken a few more items upto rowsley for fettling for the next rod run to be looked at next week on 15&16.

    next week more work to follow;

Good news (and more work!) for the S&T lads at Peak Rail, the annual Peak Railway Association raffle was the best ever with proceeds going to the removal of the ex-Bamford box from Darley Dale to be reinstated at Rowsley. This will also pave the way for the Darley Dale footbridge to be put back where it belongs.

Austerity 'Lord Phil' was having a good workout today with half a dozen or more runs between Rowsley and Church Lane.

    S&T

John and myself continued with the rodding at riverside with much faffing and drilling of holes in jarrah timbers to move a crank that was hitting up between two opposing rods, we refitted the rods that Rob had welded up for us and took a few more away which I've been busy with today and now we stand at three quarters of te rodding runs up and running.

We also made an early start on the final to runs for 15&16 rods by moving the pedestal cranks in line with the lever tail and the down rod which needed making up I've finished off today at home.

Elsewhere we can now report that we have been successful in acquiring the ex Barrow Hill up sidings turnover style lever frame from the National Railway Museums collection which will be located in the cabin at Rowsley when it is relocated from Darley Dale later on in the year, more on that project as and when time permits.

    Locomotives

Good to see Lord Phil out on test along the line too after a lot of good work put in from the gentlemen up at Rowsley Locomotive shed.

Great news about the frame, these are the ones sometimes called German frames I think?

Presumably the ex-Bamford box was just stored at Darley dale, and is not the current operational box there. Where did that come from, or is it the original still in situ?

    Thanks

    46118

Edit: Via Google I have found your very good signalling-specific website. So to answer my own question, is the substantial Bamford box non-operational, and the smaller cabin on the other side of the line actually controls matters at DD?
