A bit of a tease for the 2013 brochure - due out in 7 days.

We are taking 5043 to the WSR on May 25th. We are planning to take the water carrier so we can eliminate a water stop (Gloucester) but we might still need a splash at Bristol on the way home - we will see.

    To book: 0121-708-4960

    SATURDAY 25[SUP]th[/SUP] MAY
    THE WHISTLING GHOST

    http://www.tyseleylocoworks.co.uk/tours/tr_2013_0525.htm

Do not fear, we have no plans to re-create Percy’s ghostly trick in the Thomas stories by covering No. 5043 “Earl of Mount Edgcumbe” in white lime! We refer instead to the tale of Old Mother Leakey who reportedly haunts The Mermaid, Minehead’s oldest business premises, previously a ships chandlers, a department store and currently a highly recommended tea-room.

Our day begins with our flagship Castle departing Tyseley through Birmingham Snow Hill, heading southward along the Birmingham & Gloucester Railway towards Bristol Temple Meads. We continue our journey towards Taunton, where we turn onto the preserved metals of the West Somerset Railway. At Bishops Lydeard, we swap 5043 for a West Somerset Railway preserved steam loco for the continued journey to Minehead, where the passengers will have several hours to explore this seaside town.

Our return journey retraces our steps, swapping our WSR loco for No: 5043 “Earl of Mount Edgcumbe” for the sprint back to Tyseley.

Commencing at Tyseley Warwick Road, there will be additional pickups at Birmingham Snow Hill, Stourbridge, Worcester Shrub Hill and Bristol Temple Meads.

Standard Class: £79 (From Bristol TM: £59)

    Enthusiast Class: £94

    Club Class: £105
Includes light refreshments in both directions.

    Premier Dining: £165
Includes a full English breakfast and a traditional 3-course dinner.
Tables for two in Premier Dining: £20 per table (£10 per person extra)
Premier Dining not available for passengers joining at BRISTOL!

Good chance of a sizeable booking for this one, the water carrier prob swings it over the RTC job.

A bit confused as how you will manage to pick up at Crewe.

Ah-Ha! Well done! You spotted the deliberate mistake! Corrected to say Bristol.

Also, now with a water / pathing stop at Gloucester Goods and a passenger only stop at Bristol. Should make for a slightly shorter day for everyone.

Not planning on it. Depends on the loadings.

I suppose by Old Hill on the return, the carrier is likely to be empty, hence it's weight (at that point anyway), is more likely to be that of load 1 rather than 2/3.

Can't wait, 5 x bookings placed, lets hope for a good day at the seaside. Bucket and spade ready by the door.....

Shame we won't have any shots of EME on the table at Minehead, unless your following us up?

If she comes off at Bishop's Lydeard, 5043 will probably be serviced there and turn on Norton Fitzwarren triangle I'd imagine, probably more time to service and refill the water carrier then than going through to Minehead, personally I prefer it that way as you get a second engine hauling the train, just hope one of 3850/7828/6960 produces for the WSR leg.

4160 piloting inside 7828 would be ideal :)

Not a Class 40 diesel tour then. Misread the header completely.

Not been a Mainline 40 for nearly 3 years since 145's traction motors went bang.
