One of the finest Shap video sequences I think I have ever seen! Well done, too, for selecting such a well suited spot for the conditions!
Which fool was it at the BBC weather centre who had, at one stage, predicted fog in the area throughout the morning?!! Perhaps that was why there were only 6 of us at Docker on Grayrigg ... although the virually impassable roads in the area may also have had something to do with that!

Birkett? Yes ... well ... I think we all knew that it was going to be grim up there and your shot certainly summed up the conditions just as they really were. To listen to the noise alone, just up the line at Smardale, was worth it.

My own effort from Armwathwaite yesterday afternoon. That, and a trip to Ribblehead before the tour came down the S&C, was worth the 400 mile round trip from home!

A little something I've been working on lately, a blog about the days out involved when having to go out for steam ( as some of you know it's not been quite on my doorstep to get to the railtours ), and so here is yesterday's story about the day out to the S&C :

Snow, Beer And A Couple Of Black 5′s « The 21st Century Railwaymen

And if anybody is wondering, the pub mentioned in Armathwaite, I'm sure is called The Dukes Head Inn?

That would be correct! There is also the Fox and Pheasant over the bridge.

I've just taken that up to max size and it's a great shot of the elderly gentleman in charge of 44871, none other than Mr Seymour, and the young Mr Treeby on 5407.

Many thanks for the excellent scenes from the day - and for showing the conditions which you met on the S&C; it's bad enough a spot to reach on a good day but with that depth of virgin snow you have my admiration ! Hope you both got back safely to the car and had no further trouble getting home.
