East Lancs 1T57 re-creation gala 27/28 July

East Lancs have announced, in conjunction with Steam Railway, the intention to stage a 1T57 re-creation gala over the weekend of 27/28 July featuring 70013 as star guest, together with other 1968 locos.
ELR intends to run a 1T57 train correctly liveried (3 maroon, 7 b/grey) with the only two remaining coaches from that train (ELR residents M4933/37) in the formation.
One for the diaries, more details to be advised.

    Good idea, a 1968 gala.

August 4th 1968 features part of the ELR's line (Castleton through Knowsley st) on one of the final railtours on the last day of regular steam... hauled by 48476 and 73069.. maybe they will try to capitalise on this piece of history too... indeed has a pairing of 8f and std5 happened in preservation ?

The ELR also has another "last days of steam" at Carnforth engine in it's collection..., besides steam,...class 50 D415 (aka 50015) was at Carnforth according to some records :)

Anyone know if there are any associated photo charters planned, whether full days either side of the event or a morning job at Burrs?

About right for them to have it on the same weekend as the already well established Llangollen 1960s event. Surely they could have planned it for the weekend before or after, for better visitor numbers at their own event and our event.

All goes back to various railways deciding when to stage events, so as not to clash with their nearest neighbours. Or perhaps lack of thought toward this!

Or maybe it's because it's the only weekend free, as 19/20 July is Raise the Roof, and 3/4 August is Thomas. Plus loco availability. Ian Riley has said 45407 will be on Scarborough Spas the previous two weeks, then heads up to Fort William.

Even better reason is that its the only weekend that 70013 is available.

Could well be the answer, is 70013 pencilled as one of the four loco's to do the Scarboro Flyers, CME's and North Wales runs for Railway Touring Co this year??

Why reply to Spencer's statement with a question? As Spencer will be writing out the cheque for 70013 he know's when it's available or not.

    I'll assume that's a 'no', then?
Also, can anyone confirm whether the evening run is still planned to be load 10, as per the first post, please? All seems to have gone a bit quiet on what ought to be by far the highlight of the weekend!

1T57 will be load 10, as per the first post with all the coaches in the right livery order. Even the original 1T57 headboard will be used.

We are running a one off photographic event on the Sunday morning 28 July. This will feature 70013 “Oliver Cromwell” and the 10 coach 1T57 train used for the public passenger carrying event the previous evening.

The event is being run specifically for photographers and will take place at Burrs between 7.00 am and approximately 8.00 am. A £10.00 “donation” to the event will be requested from all those attending with stickers being handed out by members of 3P20 Parcels Group to identify contributors. Please be at Burrs for 6.50 am.

Please note there is no night shoot for this event. If anyone wishes to raise any queries regarding associated photographic events for elr galas I have an email address of elrnumber1@gmail.com . Please note I will reply to you as quickly as I can but please be patient as I am a volunteer like many others.

I've just seen the revised timetable for this event with loco allocations here: - http://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/End-of-Steam-Event-Public-V1.0.pdf
It looks like the ELR will be putting everything they've got into the fray!
Does anyone know which direction the seven steam locos will be facing?
Also, no. 132 is only booked to run from Bury to Ramsbottom on Saturday morning and returns Sunday afternoon - presumably it will act as station pilot in the interim. Can anyone confirm this?
Really looking forward to this event.
    Cheers,

I'm guessing that 70013 will arrive facing north and the two Black Fives will face south so that they are right for the 1T57 recreation. I think 80080, 49395 and 132 face north and 47324 faces south (not 100% certain about the latter).

    Thanks for that.
Looking closely at the timetable, I presume that there must also be some unadvertised light engine movements towards the end of the day on Saturday. 45407 and 44871 are shown arriving at Bury at 17:28 and later depart from Rawtenstall at 19:30 while 70013 and D335 arrive at Rawtenstall at 19:06 and depart from Ramsbottom and Bury respectively on their first trips on Sunday morning.
    Cheers,
