Seems a shame to withdraw it from the gala completely because of that. I'm sure most people would prefer it to appear partially painted (even if its just plain black) than not at all.

Please remember that 1054 isn't the KWVRs engine. We hire it from the BLS. They have told us the loco is not available, not much we can do.

It's struck me as a bit odd. Would have been quite nice for another chance to see her in LMS black if the lettering and numbering haven't already been lost. Never really got the opportunity to see her in that guise in close quarters. Running in any guise would do rather than the prospect of her being idle throughout the three days.

Maybe someone could put fake weathering on it and then no-one could tell if it had any insignia or not.

Also, isn't March a "spring gala" rather than a "winter gala"? Just saying...

Funnily enough that's the first thing I asked when I found out we'd changed the date.
I am told that Winter doesn't actually officially end until Mid Mach so it is still Winter....just!

Unfortunately there is not much we can do on the Coal Tank side of things. The loco has been made not available by its owners.

In better news we are hoping to have demonstrations of the wheel drop using 34092 City Of Wells & Guided tours of the loco shed at Haworth. On display should be 34092 and 5820 in the final stages of re assembly.
We hope that 90733 may be in steam, although we can't confirm that until nearer the Gala....fingers crossed! (And toes, and feet, legs...la la la)

Best of luck with the WD, shame about the coal tank, but not your choice at the end of the day, hope people still attend with the reduced line up.

KWVR pull off great galas even with a reduced line up, I'll definitely be there. And I hope it all goes well with the WD.

I know that 80002 and 43924 can do haul 6 coach trains, can 78019?

Perhaps allowing Nunlow / 1300 and/or 78019 combination to do full line trips?

No I do not currently volunteer
Hopefully 78019 will get more trips in than usual, make it worth the effort of the move

Pity about no Coal Tank, but this is still a compulsory attendance for me; the Oxenhope branch has a great Northern rural/ industrial atmosphere that isn't found elsewhere on today's railways. I hope that 78019 will be allowed to run trips on her own, perhaps even the freight - I hate double headers unless necessary and reasonably authentic, not silly combinations that would never have happened in 'real steam' days.

Hoping that I don't too much like a demanding, boring, old fa*t!

Last time out the 4F ran the early AM freight on all 3 days because the same timetable was run. This time can you mix it up a bit?

I would have to say no it can't. 78022 rarely did 5 coach trains and my experience of it was that it lost speed on the steep part between Ingrow and Damens and had to work hard. The much bigger 43106 didnt find the same section easy with 6 on. This gala is going to be very interesting as if there are the usual two 6 coach sets out thats 80002 and 43924 taken care of. Nunlow on the vintage shuttle to Ingrow 1300 on the full line vintage trains and 78022 doing the freights leaves two locos short as the Ingrow shuttle needs a tail end loco to return it to Keighley as does the freight from Damens Loop. So either the shuttles are excluded or reduced or there is still a move on to get more motive power, I have heard the latter but I'll leave it to the railway to make an annoucement if and when an agreement is reached.

Whatever happens 78019 and 1300 are two must sees and yes, as others have asked, solo trips please from these two and more use of 1300 than at the October gala.

If 78019's limited to 6(?) on the GC, I can't see it being allowed to take the same up the Worth Valley! Bearing in mind it's nominally less able than 41241, without the weight over the driving wheels...

78019 & 1300 are both limited to 5 on KWVR. So the plan is to reduce one set throughout the day to 5 Mk.1s so that both can do a solo run, means enjoyment by themselves rather than always double headed.
Ingrow shuttles don't always require top and tailing, then can be shunt released at Ingrow If needs be by a diesel.

No further locomotives at this time and it is not planned to get any, the associated cost of transport is the main issue.

6 on the GC? Its' flat for goodness sake, I was looking at a photo of one the other day in BR days taking 11 coaches, but then those guys were crewing locos everyday. The Ivatt 2s at the Severn valley take 8 with little fuss.

Will Nunlow be allowed away from its shuttle duties to/from Ingrow?
