East Lancs Railway February Gala 2013 - 23rd and 24th February 2013

Visiting and Home Locomotives confirmed:

This special weekend will see home fleet locos running alongside special guests. The following locos are scheduled to attend:

• WC 34046 “Braunton”
• K1 62005
• N2 1744
• 5MT 45407
• 3F 47324 (running as 47584)
• 7F 49395
• 4MT 80080
• 0F 1370 “May”

 

Great news that the K1 will appear. Haven't seen 62005 since it visited the K&WVR in 2008.

Cheers Andi, interesting seeing a train starting from Rawtenstall for a change plus the new shuttles - looking good, quite early finish for Heywood though.

 

Some mega rare mileage available on the shuttles though. Into the bay platform!

Normally a week before the event. Whilst we're on the locos, has there been any word about the possible attendance of 61994?

 

Can now advise that K4 61994 'The Great Marquess' is confirmed for this event. Both 61994 and 62005 should arrive just prior to the gala, and will remain at the ELR until towards the end of March.
N2 1744 also due next week.

 

will there be a night shoot this time given the last one was cancelled due to the snow?

 

Apologies for delay in replying, I only flew in from Germany yesterday after a very succesfull holiday to the Harz.

I regrte to advise there will no night sgoot at the Feb gala. I am know this will be a dissapointment to many and those that know me will be well aware I do not make these decisions without considering everything.

 

just out of interest then, why is that? Are there crowd control issues?

 

Has Braunton been removed from the gala? UK Steam info has 34046+34067 listed as a provisional move from Bristol to Southall on March 17th ??

 

Huge opportunity missed. K1 & K4. Shame

Any news on the loco roster ? Will 34046 be there ?

 

I would have thought 34046 will be operating because the gala is before the supposed mainline move.

Believe it will be available either tomorrow or Wednesday.

 

Operational issues within the yard, no problem with crowd control. We hosted just over 70 people when we had 70013 and 44871.

As I have said on another forum following consultations with other people involved the decision made was finally had to rest with myself.

I do not take these decisions without consulting many people but it is one I had to take.

Sorry to disapoint but it is just not feasable at this time and I shall make every effort to ensure we have one for the October event
