Just because a line has 2 GW locos doesn't mean they belong together... A double header of 3803 and 6023 ?
I'm sure an 8f double heading an 8P doesn't come around every day..someone I'm sure can furnish a historical picture ??

At some point at 2-8-0 must have assisted a King surely? If you can do it why not!

Wouldn't this of occurred in peak summer Saturday traffic where anything available would of been used, from I guess Newton Abbott?'be put up front to assist over the banks. I feel this is slightly more realistic pairing than say a castle and a duchess for example....

NA would have had to be desperate to use a 2-8-0 as a pilot; nothing to do with going uphill, more the lack of speed going down the other side.

I have a recollection that there's a record of the Great Bear being piloted by a 2-4-0... But I could be wrong and I can't lay my hands on it.

But just because you can do it, it doesn't automatically mean that you should. I'm sure it will please some people though.

Same Facebook page suggests that it should be running tomorrow(today) so hopefully only a minor issue.

    Nice video.
Shame about the cylinder cocks and glands leaking at the front end, can't hear the vacuum pump either. Still, plenty to do when she comes home to Didcot I guess.

Thanks, it was a shame about the leaks but I think it probably affected the stills photographers more than me really. I'm sure she will be sorted once she gets back home.

They seem to be the same leaks that it has had since it arrived at the GCR, I'm suprised that they have not been sorted, it doesnt really look like a loco that is ready for the main line.

Is the problem exacerbated by the cold temperature?

Very nice video and pics, ideal combination of blue and blood and custard liveries!
