    A fantastic decision.

I was wondering what Carnforth would do if they ended up using their locomotive fleet. This simplifies everything. VT passengers will get the Scot while everyone who booked to take a WCME shall get the A4. A real win-win for everyone involved, I believe.

The wind speed and direction rarely gets a mention. Crosswinds add significantly to drag.

My dad took his stopwatch everywhere - I think he even timed the Great Orme Tramway once. He didn't have a wind gauge though.

Err I think 46115 is out this Saturday just for a change and maybe give Mr Camerons crew a weekend off, I think they deserve it. We should not forget they all have another life besides 60009.

Rats! Never travelled behind a Scot, and as it's my daughter's birthday the same day then that's the way it's going to stay. :mmph:

Ralpf, I think this comment is what is causing a bit of confusion, Ray Mason is close to Nigel Dobbing and often speaks on his behalf

I had been looking at UKSteam which had SG down for this weekend, and was thinkng there were 4 more to run, not three, hence my comment about the support crew having a break.

60009 it is! And yes, direct from ND as suggested! Sorry , I cannot elaborate but simply share the gen.

Btw. RTC MAYFLOWER is still double headed over the banks. 34067 + tbc. Nigel still hoping for 34046 on the GB !!!

Sorry if you wanted the Scot but theA4 is a worthy substitute!

No need to appologise, Ray. Your gen. is always welcome.

At the risk of wandering off-topic: I guess 34046 is at best 50/50 for 16th March at the moment. Any idea what the alternative is if she's not ready? One of Mr Riley's Black 5s, perhaps? A 60 mph loco might be a bit of a handicap north of Exeter, but not over the South Devon banks

Unlikely, as both are being used the next day on the Tin Bath. Maybe 60009 or 46115 could step up? I know 60009 can do 75, but can 46115?

I know I'm going back to 46115, If we can't have the Scot this year maybe we have gotten our word across to ND that we would like to see her used on WCME series in the future.
Has it mattered to the public as to what has powered the train?

5305, 70013 and now 60009 all with full trains.
I was one of those who wanted her(46115) to be pulling this weekends tour becuase I'm fired up about her prospects this year.

    RTC / ND like Scots........

i am not in a position to say what the pilot loco on the Mayflower will be or why no9 is being used on the CMEs but all will be revealed in due time. Normally David posts first on UK steam but if I can post an update Not on UK steam,I will.
However, loco hiring has commercial implications so sometimes a loco cannot be listed until it is confirmed.
Please be assured that 46115 is planned to head RTC trains, hopefully later this year.As will other LMS locos........
NP is all about good natured speculation and info. I now find the forum much friendlier to RTC,as does Nigel,so it is easier to give updates to fellow enthusiasts

hope you enjoy this sat! I will be with the wonderful SDR gala but will keep up to date how no9 is doing and watch the ace videos many of you kindly post on NP

Good, glad we have your contributions. I'm off up to photograph the CME on Saturday and will be looking forward to seeing 60009. 46115 would have been nice too but No.9 is something a bit special.

I've obviously missed the info on this but can anyone say why 45305 has not had a turn as promised. Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find anything about this.

Ben has announced that 70000 has replaced 46115 on the VT special. Until Ben did this I felt. unable to say 60009 had replaced 46115 due to non-availability! Both substitutes are excellent even if both promotors wanted the Scot!

personally, I prefer a cl7/8 on the CMEs if strong bookings result in a very heavy train esp during the winter when railhead conditions can be difficult. However,45305 is a wonderful performer.............I am keen that a heavy load doesn't result in the driver or NR asking for a diesel onthe back"just in case" as it understandably upsets hardcore timers and enthusiasts.
Btw. RTC prefers no diesel but needs to ensure passengers are as warm as possible on cold days esp on Santa specials
