I've received my copy of "Moorsline" today, and in it they are talking about the steam gala event.

"However, fingers crossed, an inquiry has been made for a large green locomotive which, like Flying Scotsman, is capable of 100mph (no not a deltic)"...... I wonder which one they are talking about....

They are seemingly also after a royal visitor too!

Wonder if at the time of writing they meant City of Truro but as of now is out of action?

I doubt they'd call CoT large... What about 60009?

60009 will do very nicely - better book accommodation, but please don't doublehead with an A4 and the Lambton tank!

Something big and green and capable of doing the ton... 46233? I doubt whether they'd be all that coy about No. 9, given that she's visited before.

A chance to see and travel behind a double headed b1 up the hill would be amazing. Let's just hope 29 and 60007 are ready in time.

Has anyone any news on what's happening with either of them and whAt stage they are at in repairs????

(6)1306 has now been confirmed for the gala. Two B1's is as many as you can get, unfortunately.

    Hey Railway Folks
For the gala event is there any plans to bring in any more visiting engines
maybe they could ask the NRM if they could borrow some of the engines including maybe
    3440,4771,55002,d6700.
or maybe hire in some great engines that could add to the railways history
    including
    925,850,777,6023,5043,46115,44932,42073,92219,34046,34067.
or i thought why dont they display their home based engines including
    45428,30928,2253,3672 and others

    many thanks
    yrm

Should be - sometimes I feel that events like this should have at least one day of reverting to just what was available when they started - 'the hungry years'. That would bring a nostalgia of its own and show how far the preservation movement has come in 40 years, and make people more grateful!

I have to admit though that anyone is serious about restoring Green Arrow to working order, preferably in BR livery, and bringing this masterpiece to the gala to work a few turns, I'll put a tenner in the hat towards the coal bill.
