Traction Engines at Salford Priors (Railway Roundabout 1959)

    Whilst nosing around YouTube I found this lovely clip from Railway Roundabout covering the Barnt Green - Ashchurch line.

    At 3:06 into the clip is a shot of Salford Priors with two traction engines in the foreground (which my father-in-law remembers from when he was a boy).

    Out of curiosity, does anyone know anything about these two traction engines and what became of them? Do they still exist?

    A bit of a long shot but if anyone knows then I am sure NatPres will :)

    Yes I am an active volunteer
    There used to be a lot at Binton (not far from Salford Priors) these were mostly diesel conversions but they do still exist in a farmyard not far away

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks, I can remember the Binton ones from when I was a boy - the site at Binton was empty last time I went past.

    Thinking about it the two at Salford Priors were probably connected to Bomfords who still operate from the station area supplying agricultural equipment.

    The engines were owned by Bomford and Evershed and as far as I know are still there. All the remaining engines are diesel conversions / or in a couple of cases built as IC powered machines.
