    44932 will be the second loco on the Mayflower on the 23/03. It is planned to attach at TAUNTON and assist to Plymouth. On the return 44932 will come off at Exeter,as planned for the 16th

    Btw whilst this may seem easy in fact many other options were contemplated including a rare working up North to release another loco as well as trying to work around a gala!!! Changing the date is not popular and very much a last resort.

    good to see the ECS pics cheers. Lets hope Tangers is in fine form tomorrow for Sapperton.
    Dawlish Warren guys have the pleasure of a poss 10m or so stop tomorrow of 60163.we shall see.
    AND no9 on the CME!!!!

    GB. Route. 45305-the route is out via Stirling. Perth and Dundee.
    Return via the Tay Br.

    there still tickets available for this trip if any NP follower is interested. 3 locos planned

    When I visited and slept at 61B in aug 1966 the active locos were mainly 5's and 60019/24. 60009 was set aside for pvs.
    This trip in some respects mimics those final days when the early morning stopper to Perth could be a std/LMS 5 or anA4.

    Not wishing to stray too far OT, but these remarks bring back happy memories - Blue Peter on 07.00 or thereabouts Perth to Aberdeen on 6 September 1966, just two days after 'Bittern' had run on the official last A4 run from Glasgow to Aberdeen and back; it was not all over yet!

    According to uk steam Tangmere's return to Southall on the 17th is cancelled. Is it possible that the Mayflower on the 23rd will be diesel hauled to bristol and steam attached there.

    Tangmere would have returned to Southall after yesterdays trip. The Mayflower is Diesel hauled from Bristol to Paddington on the return. The 17th was cancelled because the trip is now on the 23rd and Uk Steam now show Tangmere returning to Southall on the 24th.

    Ray, has the return loco for the ACE of the 7th April been definitely confirmed yet? I am keen to book this trip up as there are just two weeks to go before it operates. It's gone a bit quiet regarding 34046 and 777 must surely have to take a ML test run as she hasn't run on the Network since the incident on the ECML. Also how well is this trip filling up?

    Given that 30777 was prevented from hauling the ACE on 7th April "due to gauging issues", how come it's still shown for the same route on 9th July?

    "Shown" by RTC tends to mean little I am afraid. Just their wish list. Nothing wrong with that provided that you realise that's all it is.

    A good question. It might mean several things:
    • 777 wasn't checked for the route in time back in April, but has been now and is OK;
    • 777 was out-of-gauge in April but won't be in July because the problem is temporary and is supposed to be fixed before then;
    • A different route has been requested, so that 777 can be used, but the change has not been advertised yet;
    • A different loco will be required but hasn't been contracted yet;
    • RTC have been far too busy running all their other tours to sort this problem out yet, and any of the above might apply.
    All of these have happened to RTC (and other promoters) in the past. Very often, they are not resolved until about 2 weeks beforehand, partly because that's when NR finally confirms the details of a charter (times, route, gauging, speed restrictions, etc.).

    As mentioned previously, the newly widened platform at Templecombe is most likely to be causing the problem. However, as 30777 was a relatively late addition to the last tour, it might have been that NR did not have time to measure the clearance between the platforms, so they decided to err on the side of caution. We won't know what transpires until closer to the time.

    30777 is expected to leave the WSR around 6 July, unless it changes again.

    It will be interesting to see what turns up on the "Royal Wessex" on 1st June. The page on the RTC website has a picture of 34067 (which is otherwise engaged on that day) while the blurb says 34046 will be working it, which may be a tad optimistic as its problems have not yet been ironed out. As 777 is gauged for the Weymouth line, I was wondering whether it might be substituted, but from what you're saying, David, this doesn't now look likely. If neither Britannia is ready by then either, there's not a lot of choice.

    The Buxton Spa Express has been postponed again. Revised date Thursday 27th June.
    The letter I recieved states RTC have been assured that 70013 will be ready by 9th June for another tour.

    That at least is some good news. I wonder, though, what will happen to The Anniversary Fensman, planned for 25th May (was 6th April). I guess that is likely to be postponed. Likewise The Cheshireman (Euston-Chester) on 6th June. When 70013 does return, I hope her support crew are up for a few extra duties, while Braunton and Britannia are unavailable.

    I've also been wondering about Nunney Castle. A friend who's involved with 5029 reckoned she'd be ready by June, when we met while chasing GB6. I hope that's still the case, since she'd be able to cover The Royal Duchy on 2nd and 9th June. Do Ben or Nunney-Fixer still read these forums? Care to comment, chaps?

    I guess The Swanage Belle on 13th June is likely to run with Tangmere only; on previous occassions, the return has been DL-hauled to Southampton, then reverse and steam-hauled back to London via Romsey and Andover.
