Just wondering how much longer will the manor be in use for before change over and will the next loco be Goliath?

Manor until the end of season and maybe beyond, 5239 should be out within next few months. 75014 will replace the manor. Though manors overhaul will be a quick one, hopefully, as a lot of firebox work and wheels were done not long ago.

4277 was wearing a red nose today with collection buckets at Kingswear, all in a good cause. Red nose day 2013.

Ps, i know it's not red nose day but we're not running tomorrow.

Must nip down again this year, delighted to have the manor early last Sept - we rode in Devonbelle (of course), the noise was fantastic - very sharp exhaust as it climbed from Kingswear. It looks amazing in black. I recollect Flying Scotsman as a nipper in 1973, with one of the regular Drivers Stan Turner, who had got the measure of it, as a 6 year old. Great line.

Heading over on Saturday to take a trip to coincide with 60163 visiting on the CathEx. Do any of the PDR experts on here know if the service trains retimed at all? Looks like Tornado is running effectively in the 14.15 ex-Paignton and 17.00 ex-Kingswear path. Aiming to do a round trip on the service train with a break at Kingswear for pics of the tour turning etc.

Normal service trains on the line will be unaffected I think. 60163 will leave Paignton mainline just before the 2:15 service train and because its non stop it will be in Kingswear fairly quickly and the 2:15 will follow it down after. This is what happens with the Torbay Express in the summer so is guess this is what will happen with the Catherdrals Express on Saturday.

Unusual working this morning. A late 10:30 from PGN came past Broadsands at about 11:15 hauled by the 25 with an open wagon full of coal behind the loco followed by the usual rake of coaches. Couldn't grab the camera in time, but it could have made a good caption "DSR experiments with class 25 dual-fuel operation"

Special working today. No service trains until Tuesday, then fill time until 3rd November. Todays train is a staff putting down to Kingswear for a loaded test run on the paddle steamer Kingswear castle. Rent a crowd.

Ah, so a wagon of coal for the paddle steamer. Best place was next to the firebox on a day like today I bet!

Just out of curiosity wasn't it 20 days between locos swapping over last year?
