45699 Galatea

Well, here it is on RT: Realtime Trains
Looks like one of WCRC loaded test run paths & is only run as needed, hence if it runs it won't be Galatea (in my opinion) as to our knowledge shes not yet done any LE test runs. That's not to say they won't sneak her in to the train.

 

There is a 5Z51 in as a WTT path, and today, it was also entered as a VAR path, and Galatea has now been registered on TOPS as 98699. They don't normally do L/E test runs with steam locos, if they did it would be a class 0, so when they do test runs they pretty much always take a support coach with them for obvious reasons, which can only run as a class 5.

Its all a wind up... There is no Galatea, No Carnforth nor even a jolly chap from Hathersage.

My moneys on 44932, that's had some TLC recently and there's a Welsh Borders Tour soon timed at 60MPH, 2 + 2....

 

Well whatever it is its somewhere in the Clapham area at the moment, someone must have a clue whats running? Have all the Carnforth spies been silenced now?

 

I have heard that Galatea left the yard earlier and sat in the down goods loop and then back into the yard. I suppose that would account for the RT site showing 11.49 and 12.17.

I suppose after all this time its understandable that she would be nervous about venturing onto the big railway and scuttled back into the yard.

Its ironic that we have all these snatched photo's taken from distance in the yard, but no one seems to have managed a snap when she ventured into public view, albeit briefly.

 

David Smith must be in intensive care by now with terminal aching sides. :roll:

 

Im supprised carnforth havent put down the 1st April as its test run. Then no one would believe them and galatea could go out unseen and even if someone said its coming no one would believe them because of the day. I would make for a good double bluff.

RT update: This train has been cancelled due to a problem with a steam locomotive (ME)

 

Maybe it would have worked out better if it was a different colour?
