Great to see a jubilee moving again whichever it is. The cast of thousands seemed jolly too. Rather pathetic subterfuge but its entirely the business of wcr how they wish to expend their resources. What would the cost of the short sortie have been today?

I wonder if the quick spray in Maroon does actually mean that 45699 will actually enter servce in LMS Crimson/Maroon, or was that just part of the quick identity swap with 5690? With the exception of "Hogwarts" hall, Mr Smith tends to prefer BR passenger liveries for his locomotives.

As others have mentioned, the tender currently attached to Galatea looks in need of a bit of platework tlc, but maybe there is another unit being worked on.

Nice to see it back though, was indeed a Barry wreck in extreme!

Although WCRC get a fair bit of stick on here I will say they have done a grand job getting 45699 back to this condition. Bravo to all involved.
She features quite a bit in the superb new Barry Scrapyard Book (highly recommended) and she was in a very, very bad condition, I'd say worse than 6023 and 71000. Good to see her back at last.

 

I think its about 5 pages back I have read now, have not the faintest idea wether to laugh or cry at all this froth and dribbling. Is it Leander, is it Galatea, will it be this will it be that !!!. Get over yourselves for goodness sake.

And with Chris Beet (owner of 5690) present during the filming of a video at Carnforth station that was linked from WNXX I take it that "fact" is definite ?

 

Leander has been in the Beet family for decades, so who better to have present on Galatea's test run than a man who knows Jubilees inside and out and whose own locomotive is under overhaul at Carnforth right now?

 

Slightly different Question, Is the Tender supposedly being used with "Galatea" - "Leander" The Riley tender that was "Green" and had a piece missing out of the side and is now Maroon with a replacement panel fitted??. Ian
