The SVR based diesel groups are pleased to avise that the planning application for a diesel maintenace facility at Kidderminster has been approved.

Over 80% of the funding is also inplace and an autumn build is anticipated.

Good news if it gets locos under cover before another winter.( when we get shut of this one...!)

Somewhat puzzled by the funding, reading elsewhere it looks as though the various groups funding the depot are handing their funds to the SVR, and the SVR will build and own the depot. Do the groups then have any "rights" as such, given that they raised the money? Is the SVR contributing any funds?

Is there likely to be a diesel "event" on the railway this year, dedicated to raising funds for this project?

    Just curious.

Various arms of the SVR are contributing significantly towards the building. The precise nature of the agreements to be signed up between the railway and the diesel groups is currently a subject of discussion with a view to formal agreement before building commences.

There will be a diesel event this year (3-5th October from memory), but it is not specifically to raise money for the shed. However fundraising options are being considered so watch this space.
