Sir Lamiel was spotted heading westwards on the A303 last night - presumably bound for the same destination?

Another S160 on the move again shortly is 5820 at the KWVR.
The Lempor exhaust is sure to arouse interest but as a couple of other s160's ( worldwide) have had 'the treatment' its not a complete Guinea pig
The before/ after stats might raise a few eyebrows here
Am curious about the Air brakes which are being worked on, the locomotive itself is air braked ? (cant think of many heritage lines that have Air braked stock - Presumably it has vac brakes too ?)

We have some Air braked vehicles on the NYMR, mainly in the PW fleet.

5820 had vac brake equipment fitted soon after arriving at the KWVR from Poland so I assume this is being refitted. Obviously everything on the s.g.in Poland was air only but IIRC when first built for the USATC the S160's also had a fairly ineffective steam brake. Ray.

Each S160 that has run in the UK in recent years has had vacumn brakes fitted in different ways. The CVR two are both fully air braked but can create vacumn for the train pipe with control in a similar way to 6322/71000 and 60163 do - so air needed all the time. The ex Mid-hants engine had full vacumn but the air was retained. They operated independently and so air was not required for the loco braking (steam I think). The NYMR and KWVR engines follow this patten too.

The NYMR S160 (2253) is air for the loco brake and sanders. A vacuum ejector is provided for the train. Loco has a vac/air proportional valve. It is/was also fitted for running with air braked stock. There are thus three brake application valves: straight air brake, automatic air brake and automatic vacuum brake
