It's already done, leave it red, leave the smoke number... Just finish it off... BR maroon and lining please... You know the public will love it...even if a few here won't.

Oh come on please, do be good!

From the video taken you can clearly see that there's some fine tuning to be done!

Of course still at least a month away and to be honest I'd rather see a debut on its old stomping grounds.

Thanks to the guys at Carnforth for getting another loco back on the mainline. No doubt after a little fettling she'll soon be paying her way.

Don't care what colour it is or what number it carries. I first saw this engine in May 1980 at Carnforth as a source of spares for Leander so those photos and video represent a hell of an effort from the people at Carnforth. Top marks to them and hope it is a great and reliable performer for them in the years to come. They deserve it.

A pity they don't do preserved visits as that'd look great with 48624 at the GCR. That'd look quite good actually. They could always do Leander in Brunswick Green to keep that section of enthusiasts happy.

Again though great work involved in restoring her and will, be another great addition to the WCR Steam fleet.

Damn autocorrect! I meant draincock, obviously. A drain cocktail wouldn't taste very nice.

Can I add my congratulations to the team involved in the restoration.
Certainly better looking than my first sight at Barry in 73.

At a guess I would estimate just under 60mph in that last video at Clapham.

Many congratulations to all the lads at Carnforth for completing another Barry restoration, 45699 really does look stunning even if not fully painted yet. I couldn't care less what guise she will be finally outshopped in, all that matters is that a loco that really did look a sad picture after departure from Barry has been given a new lease of life and I really can't wait for see her stretch her legs over the S & C. :)

Congratulations to David Smith and his team at Carnforth - A much-awaited re-awekening. I first saw Galatea in 1984 I think it was, up the headshunt at Bridgnorth. to think it would ever turn a wheel again was beyond comprehension back then.
Who cares what livery it appears in? It works, that's the main thing!

    Richard.

Well done to David Smith and team for their achievements with 45699! I'm surprised she's not been fitted with air brakes though, I know WCRC have a good stock of vac fittedstock but surely vac only will restrict her to 60mph rather than 75mph.

The type of braking system used on a steam hauled train doesn't have any regard to the top speed Network Rail allows the engine to go. It's defined by wheel diameter. So 45699 will be 75mph capped wether Air or Vac.

    48151 has visited the GCR...

Galatea looks nice in red, just awaiting the yellow stripe and 'EWS' transfers... well, it's a historic livery!
