Pretty good, to go by their website, which now has timetables, but not loco roster. I sent off for the 'spotters' guide' and eagerly await its arrival.

Hopefully soon, to enable planning. Accommodation prices in Porthmadog for that weekend have been at eye-watering levels for some time, so I shall be starting my days from Snowdon Ranger youth hostel! It is well sited on the WHR, and there are quite a few interesting workings over that line with the two working Englands, and also the 'Green Ladies' from Penrhyn.

Thought you may all be interested to see a snipit of the preperations for the Steam 150 event on the Ffestiniog Railway which is on the May Bank Holiday 3rd-6th. Here Kilo is seen practicing for his staring role in the opening ceremony of the event(think along the lines of the olympics, but with trains). A dedicated website has been set up see it HERE. We've also unloaded lots of slate waggons so there is a rare opportunity to see England engines on exactly the train (40 odd empties) which they were designed and built to pull, there's still going to be a reasonable length gravity train to enjoy.

We're celebrating the first succesful application of locomotives on the narrow gauge, the day we proved some of the great engineers of the era wrong. Surely a must for most narrow gauge enthusiasts, and if you're not then you will be by the end of the weekend.

It may interest you that the language from 1863 is still alive in FR staff today, you can always spot a true FR man because they will refer to engines as 'the Merddin Emrys', this stretches back to when Prince & Princess were The Prince & The Princess.

Hoping to attend on the Saturday.

I was hoping to spend a whole week there, but with the possibility of starting a new job on 29th April it may just have to be a day outing.

From a booking office source on the FR facebook event page:

"Tickets will be sent out as soon as they come back from the printers. Hopefully it should be this coming week. If you want to confirm the Booking Office has received your booking, please telephone"

Judging by the FR website there's quite a bit more going on than there was at the "Centenery of Steam" event in 1963. I wonder if there's anybody out there who was on the Centenery of Steam special? And if there is, can you remember the date on which it ran, (it certainly was NOT in May.)

Yes indeed it does look like a good event. I'm certainly looking forward to it. Just waiting for my event guide and tickets in anticipation.

Trains Sunday 8.25am - 4.50pm. The first train on Sunday morning is timed to coincide with some interesting events on the adjacent RhE, so have an early morning ride for some unusual photographic opportunities!!!
