That's a lovely shot Stuart, I do enjoy your photos. I am heading for either around the crossing or the view across from the road, which looks quite good from Google street view. It will probably rain though!

Thanks for commenting. The shot from that angle only really works when the trees are bare.

    Cheers,

Tornado was already gleaming in the early morning sunlight at the end of platform 6 when I arrived at King's Cross around 7:20am...with the champagne on ice. My set of photos:

Is it just me, or have they got themselves a bit mixed up with the headlights there.

It appears that the marker and main are on on the same side.

Any clues as to what happened to cause the train to get into such a tangle after Peterborough. It seems that it never made it to KX if RTT is accurate.

Looking at RTT it was 24 early at Peterborough so possbily did not stop for water at Eastfield, and 35 late at Huntingdon. So did it stop for water at Connington instead ?

Yes I spotted that. But water is water wherever it's taken. so even if the water stop was changed (and the 25 min early timing should have been more than enough to do it), it's strange that the original path couldn't be picked up again. 75 minutes from P'boro to Huntingdon is an age.

No signal man at Eastfields so, after a long wait just after Peterborough the loco was watered at Connington.

No it didn't reach Kings Cross. DBS, bless 'em! didn't have a driver or conductor that knew the route from Finsbury Park to the buffer stops. This was due to driver sickness apparently
