Not according to times booked to pass at 1337 & 1745 unless anyone knows if it would be different.

Yeah, the oldest vehicle plated to run on the national network. It's over a hundred years old, surely they can come up with something more stylish. :peep:
After all no one in their right mind would want to be seen driving round in a hundred year old Rolls Royce!!

I posted with more concern about the capacity Kevin, on one of the posted pictures there looks to be a mountain of coal showing well above the tender height, how about a loan off the SDR,4920 does not look it will be going anywhere soon, in fact it looks a little forlorn and unloved at the moment.

Sorry Mike I thought you were commenting on the looks. As for the coal, I've been on the footplate of 4965 with the coal piled that high and it's perfectly safe. When they coal her they ensure that the actual pile is in the middle of the tender and it is carefully trimmed to ensure that it doesn't come over the sides when in motion.

I have commented on the looks many times Kevin, especially in light hearted banter at Widney Manor, it does look a little odd when compared to the likes of 4936 and 4953. On the capacity side my concern was on long routes like the one tomorrow will 4965 inhibit E o M E in endurance and speed or will 75 mph running apply?

Regarding 4965's tender, it's only 500 gallons difference in water capacity which doesn't make much difference at all, and it may make 4965 more suitable for the Shakespeare Express duty with possible better rearward vision when running tender first down to Stratford compared to a bulkier 4000 gallon version.

I prefer it like that, Halls ran with the type initially so it's "right" (though I think 4965 was an exception), every other Hall out there has the larger type if that's your thing.

Crews on the SVR will tell you that they can be uncomfortable running backwards in inclement weather.

    Cheers Dave

No doubt it's more exposed, but the Shakespeare only operates in the summer so it's warmer (in theory anyway!) and I'd imagine the sighting is the bigger concern.

Just got back from this one and to be honest after being on the Cornishman last year i went away quite disappointed at the end of the day, with a load of just 10 coaches the tour never really felt like a challenge at all infact i think 5043 could maybe of handled it on its own. and for the sake of 1 coach did it really need to be double head this i mean why not make it 12-13 coaches and a challenge? or 9 coaches and another cracking assault from 5043 this was sold out really 10 coaches for 2 magnificent engines one that can handle 9 on its own in rainy weather, so 27,000 traction effort for 1 coach and 14 pound less paid for my ticket well if i had a choice i know which id rather do, is this policy really good business for Tyseley and vintage trains?. I really enjoy being hauled by steam and by Tyseley locomotives I believe vintage trains are the best company to book with and i simply am only giving my opinion on today's tour, I would have no problem booking with vintage trains again , but i do like to hear a engine working hard and today i dont feel that was the case.

Video from Wellington, Whiteball, Stonycombe, Dainton, Hemerdon (x2) and just after Tiverton (x2). Very pleased with the last couple of shots. I agree 10 coaches was not a big load but still well worth the trip. Thanks to all at VT.

    Robbo vindt dit leuk.
