Thanks - certainly interesting to watch; not much room to spare on the turntable! Any video of the tour crossing at Matlock from NR to your metals?

John, there is a video of Tangmere at Matlock crossing over from NR to PR track - there is also a good video by Nick Short as well

I noticed a DMU (I think) in NSE colours on the back of one of Alleleys trailers at Nannygoat Crossing tonight - looked more a restoration candidate than an immediate runner

    small update of recent events

    S&T

The electrical testing of the cabin at Riverside is now complete and the woodwork on the toilet has been finished and painted, save for a bit of flooring work and the all important fitment of the throne :)

next on the list is a locking rod to replace and a window to glaze up.

    Matlock

In the coming days the concrete base will be started for the platform 2 buildings, more on that as and when its worth reporting on the work thats happened.

    Elsewhere

The lineside chaps have been busy keeping a close eye on the foliage,Ian and Peter were hard at it today.

the loco guys were busy with a spot of stripping down to the frames the j94 on its long overhaul and the steam crane is coming along nicely in various shades of primer, grey and gloss black.

Will the fixed distant signal between Bridge 36 and Bridge 35 remain fixed or will it be connected to Matlock Box?

Now not being very loco savvy I'd say its our own one. Not the great grey beast of Swiftsure. Eds doing sterling work and its great not knowing much to be able to say how's that built and someone can tell you the ins and outs of the thing in every detail. Keep up the good work gents

Andy. The fixed distant remains fixed ,no plans to make it work as in most cases the train will be coming to a near slow stand /caution prior to heading forward to Matlock so will be beyond the distant thus never swing it cleared.

    S&T

Today John and myself swapped over the headshunt lock stretcher and adjusted to suit, as well as tested the telephone concentrator at Riverside (which now works fully) :) and then finished the glazing off the small window in Riverside before heading upto Darley to look at a track circuit fault, also thanks to David for changing all the track indication lamps over at Darley to LED`s

Elsewhere I only had chance to quickly call in on the LMSCA folks who were working away on the NRM coach, with some painting of smaller items for the door straps buckles as well as larger items.

    Hi Guys
A few wagons have arrived at Peak Rail I'm struggling to identify. 2x 'Modified' Grampus numbered 1 & 2. Apparently ex Derby RTC. Can anyone confirm if these came direct from Derby recently? There are 2 Grampus that were at Barry also ex Derby RTC a while ago. I'd like to confirm it isn't the same 2.
Also a BR Conflat has turned up recently in bauxite livery with no identification. Possibly ex Long Marston?
    Any help as always appreciated.
    Cheers
    Steve

Il ask a gent who knows, youre question has been forwarded to Midland relic who is far more knowledgeable on troublesome trucks than me sir ;)

    Small update

Planning approval has been granted for Mr Briddons shed/workshop at Darley south yard, still a way to go yet but will be great to see this building go up and will certain give the railway another attraction in its own right at Darley Dale, also another two shunters are due to arrive in the coming week from various other sites to add to the already great collection.

The concrete apron for the waiting room on platform two at Matlock has been finished teady to accept the structure later this month hopefully.

The steam crane restoration continues well, the PRA are sponsoring the boiler retubing

Lastly a grant has been made available for Darley Dale station fencing, picnic site and the station waiting room is undergoing repainting and other improvements also.

Keep up the good work all you volunteers, much appreciated.

Lastly an early mention. Don't forget the deisel gala on the 25/26th may

With all this sunshine and the fact its bank holiday the Peak District is buzzing with tourists, plus the fact there's other enthusiasts events going on locally and the bakewell shows on too, all of which made trains look nicely busy over the weekend John and myself managed to avoid a tan working up at Riverside which has had a start on cleaning up inside, we also did some work on a lever contact box, lever buttons and other sundry jobs

Chatting with Andy he had only one of the two planned locos arrive due to problems with the transport getting stuck, all fun n games ;)

The deisel gala timetable should be out soon and from some good comments on Facebook the narrow gauge is doing well at Rowsley wherever you are have a sunny n warm bank holiday to you all from us in the shire :)

From the Renown and Repulse diary courtesy mr Dominic Jackson an update on the work on their class fiftees

Mark Burrows and Dave Rolfe were on site over the weekend of 4-5 May.
Dave came to Mark's house on Sunday morning, and together they loaded five fire bottles in to Dave's car, and put three in Mark's. This took somewhat longer than expected: over an hour to load up! However this was partly because one of the bottles was full and they decided to partially blow it down to make it a bit lighter. The fire bottles are now stored on site at Rowsley. They originate from scrap 37s at Booths and are probably in better condition and easier to recertify than the ones already inside 50029 and 50030.
Wasps have attacked one of the wooden blocks under the ex-50008 power unit, which is now not too healthy. We had a choice of either getting a mother of a crane in to lift the power unit and replace the block, or do something else. After giving it some thought, Mark devised a brace that should stop the wooden block collapsing. We have bought some 10mm thick metal plates from Booths, who cut them to size for us, but they now need drilling. Mark picked them up and took the plates to Bowers last week. At Rowsley we have some inch threaded bar, with nuts and washers. Mark's idea is to use this, with some that Bowers are going to buy for us, to fasten the plates either side of the wooden block. Mark intends to take it to Bowers to show them what we are after.
Chris Thorn also asked Mark to take some air horn back plates to Bowers to get them drilled out to accommodate class 37 style air horns, so he picked them up this morning, and will take to Bowers with the threaded bar.
Whilst on site at the weekend, Mark also removed five sections of conduit from 50029 (basically to allow access to a piece that were wanted for 50030. He has removed the section that we actually want to use in 50030 and has cleaned it up and fitted it in 50030. The damaged section from
50030 that this section is to replace, has also been cleaned, as Mark intends doing a "cut and shut" on it, to use it in 50029.

Dave has been internally cleaning oil and water pipes off the ex-50008 power unit; the oil pipes are full of sludge and the water pipes have a
significant amount of loose rust in them. He has also been painting some of the large mounting brackets off the power unit.

When the steam specials arrive in Matlock from Derby they cross over onto "Peak Rail's" track (Sainsbury side) and return back the same way rather than returning on NRs track (river / A6 side) - why is this?

I'm sure kestreleyes will correct me if I'm wrong but believe points that would allow this currently have FPL bolted in place though this may change when Matlock Riverside signal box comes on line.
