What will haul the others? Nunney was supposed to be ready to run the Devonian on the 15th, last I heard... So possibly it will haul this on the 16th?

Just at Hereford station to see number 9. We've just been told that she has failed due to a hotbox. She will return to Crewe later on.

Not a lucky piece of railway for 60009. Probably failed very close to where she lost a cork on a connecting rod a few weeks ago. Weird.

    Cheers

    Alan

'Tangmere' returns to Southall this evening at 20:22. I wonder what the chances are of
the loco running to Bristol overnight or tomorrow morning to deputise for 60009? <BJ>

It is reported on the Works forum that it is a big end that has run warm. Much better than a hot box.

Sad news about No.9. I'm away at present but I'm booked on next week so fingers crossed.

60019 only took 8 over the banks in 2010. It was not on good form that day but never in trouble.

Big end was running slightly warm. Engine only stopped as a precaution. Loco run 80 miles back to to its home maintenance depot in Crewe for further inspection but are confident to be ready for this Thursday job and looking forward to next Sundays The Royal Dutchy.

That's only because it doesn't have a steam category....

That's good to hear. The hope is that this might be the last of several incidents all with similar themes as the number of inconvenienced passengers due to these hiccups is now getting close to four figures.......and there is a high profile trip for No9 coming up on 14/6.

It appears to have been quite a trek. Over 5 hours to get from Bristol to Par including 60+ mins at Exeter and 40 mins at Plymouth. <BJ>
