Our locomotive is close to completion but still needs funds to finish it off.

We have been asking our 200 shareholders on a regular basis to dig a little deeper into their pockets for financial assistance and that source of funds is all but dried up. That said a large shareholder, very keen to see his investment in action, is offering match funding for any new monies coming into the project.

We have been asking on our facebook and twitter pages for help and some has been forthcoming. If anyone in this Forum feels able to assist us get over this final hurdle it will be very much appreciated. You can donate through PayPal here.

We will let eveyone know when 76084 moves to the North Norfolk Railway and when she eventually returns to traffic. Since I'm might not be able to witness this event it would be much appreciated if photos could be posted for me to enjoy from a distance.

    Thanks

    Latest update 2013_4_1.jpg

All superheater tubes were fitted to 76084's boiler last week allowing refractory brickwork to be installed in the firebox. Picture shows the support frame for the top arch that was installed on Monday 8 April.
2013_4_6.jpg Superheater tube being prepared for insertion and fixing.

2013_4_8.jpg Saturday 13 April 2013 smokebox door lifted and reuinited with the smokebox. You can clearly see the newly installed handrails too.

Interesting quote from the Mayflower thread

Hope that's the case, be nice to have a mainline "pocket rocket" again, had a soft spot for 76079 on the big railway.

I see from Facebook that 76084 made her first moves under her own power for 46 years today. Bloody well done to you all. Fine job.

There is a short video of the occasion. It takes only 22 seconds to traverse the available rails at Hepscott!!

Very well done. This was one loco that was condemned by the 'experts' back in the 80s as a hopeless case. Really great news

Thanks for posting that video, Eric. She does look strange with no tender! "Prototype for everything" for the modellers now :) . Again, hearty congratulations to you all.

A clue would be a word which can prefix 'bath' and 'delight' as well as 'wrestling' followed by any whole number between 7 and 9, followed by the middle initial of President John .. Kennedy.
Mind you, I did forecast Rafa Benitez would take over at Man. U .. lol

Just out of curiosity the loco came to a stop smartish at the end of its short run, would there actually be any brakes on the loco at this stage?

Actually....looking at the photo, I can see brake shoes on the coupled wheels....
